Glad to see. Gives me hope we can see him in the playoffs.
That's two players, Muzzin and Kase, who really need to think things over in the summer. Is it worth continuing?
Yeah he was told his play has been shit, so now he's out with a bruised ego.Something flared up for Muzzin. Not related to the previous 29 issues this season.
We have a nice Island retreat for Muz
I don't believe that we have.I can handle losing to Buffalo. I cannot handle losing to Ottawa.
We lost our first game of the season against them, 3-2 in a 48 shot performance. Mrazek let in 3 goals on 26 shots then got injured, then Campbell had to come in.I don't believe that we have.
True, a big reason we were successful in the past playoffs was because of good goaltending. It’s not really surprising to see Jake Muzzin out of the lineup again so soon. To me, he looked like he was playing injured last night. He looked slow and flat footed most of the night. I’m not really sure how much of a positive influence he would have in the playoffs, he’s been injured too much recently and when he has been back, at least to me, I don’t think he’s played overly well.
Kallgren will never be mistaken for a starting goaltender anytime soon, given that he’s a rookie and only has 10 or 11 games in the NHL. However, like Petr Mrazek, he too has a save percentage under .900%. We need better goaltending than that in the first round if they are going to compete against elite teams that will light them up like Christmas trees without hesitancy. I like Jack Campbell and I think he’s been pretty decent since he’s been back. However, over the last four months his save percentage has been under .900% for almost the entirety of that duration. I know some of it is on our defense, but you can’t win a playoff series with sub .900% goaltending.
The saving Grace for Toronto in 2022 has been their elite offensive firepower. They’ve scored at least six goals in seven out of the last eight or nine games if I’m not mistaken. They’ve been doing that pretty much on a routine basis since January 1 when Mitch Marner started to go on his tear and Matthews. Outscoring their goaltending deficiencies may work in the regular season, but it’s not a recipe for success in the playoffs. Teams like Florida are in a similar boat that Toronto is in. Top-notch fire power, but subpar goaltending as a whole. I don’t see a lot of people too concerned about this or many people having discussions about it, but I feel it should be.
I think maybe I’ll stop being so pessimistic if Toronto actually proves me wrong and actually advances to round two in the playoffs. They definitely have the skill to, but I think that their poor goaltending will be there Achilles’ heel, I just do.
Anyway, fantastic regular season so far, but the real games begins in a few weeks. I’d like to see home ice advantage, so I hope they don’t take their foot off the gas and annihilate Ottawa tomorrow night.
Go Leafs goooooo!!
I can handle losing, I can't handle playing with no effort and losing to Ottawa/MontrealI can handle losing to Buffalo. I cannot handle losing to Ottawa.
