All that aside however, like the Sabres if the Senators stay patient and not try to get ahead of themselves, they can grow into being one the Atlantics powerhouses'.

So can Detroit and Montreal.

All the bad teams in our division think they'll be good soon because of their young cores. Meanwhile all the good teams in our division think they'll stay good for awhile. We can't all be good!

here is hoping matthews scores a hatty tonight. people on the main boards have their panties too tight when it comes to matthews. freakin' losers

Only update is Kallgren gets the start I believe.

So Spezza in - Simmonds out. Seems like Keefe is going rotate those 4th line guys. Not a bad idea to rest those older guys down the stretch, they'll need that extra energy come playoff time. If Leafs go deep, it will be heavy going for 2 months. You hope you can have short series but we all know Leafs like to make things difficult for themselves (and us fans). They need all those guys to be able to contribute at high levels. They will probably use all of those guys at some point.

Like rotating the 4th line now to give guys some rest as there are older legs on most of the guys we're giving those minutes to. Once playoffs start though I think you have to go Clifford-Blackwell-SImmonds which likely mean we aren't getting any offence from the 4th line, but I really liked having that line against Washington and would be beneficial in a playoff series. If Spezza was playing at a level he was the past 2 seasons it would be a different story but he looks washed at this point, as do Clifford and SImmonds. The difference is Clifford and SImmonds are useful in other areas.

If they truly want home ice advantage, they better be up for this one. I don't see Winnipeg beating Tampa tonight, even if Tampa is allegedly running on fumes right now. So, a win is needed if they still want to be in a fairly comfortable position for home ice.

Yeah, some rotating in and out isn't a bad idea. This game holds some nostalgia for Sepzza too I suppose, though probably had little to do with the decision.

I hope Clifford and Simmonds has the trust of Keefe for the playoffs, I think those two with Blackwell makes most sense in a tough playoff series. Especially if all three keep it simple and physical.

Expecting a loss. Boys don't seem to get up for this type of game and often "play down" to the opponent level. And the Sens have no pressure, playing against a geographical rival at home. They will probably work hard to play spoiler and buzz the Leafs all game.

I’m predicting 60 for Matthews tonight - 95% sure, BUT if he doesn’t I hope it’s tomorrow as I’ll be at the isles game with my little guy for his first ever leaf game.
Hoping for you and the little guy that it'll be tomorrow ! I got to go to the Winnipeg game with my brother and saw him score #50, that was special, watching #60 live would be something else !

I am hoping for you. First game with my son was the night they lost to Florida and the fire Wilson chant broke out. Sure enough Burke fired him the next day. Game was awful

Leafs look like they want to get these last games over with without injury. Let Matthews hit 60 (more if Drai comes any closer) and rest as many players as possible.

We obviously want home ice so here's hoping we can win 4 of our last 8 games, I think that should be enough.. doesn't look like Boston and Tampa and slowing down.. either so it's frustrating.

This is a huge test, that will really show us what this team is made off…okay I tried.

Is it May yet?

Hard to get excited about games lately I just want playoffs to start. But then I realize there might only be under 15 Leaf games before next year and I should enjoy them while they are here. This team could be out in round 1 again, and then the summer will be long and painful for us fans. Trying to enjoy the team before I hate them again
