What do you do? They need rest and they need to avoid injuries. Everyone's saying just limit the minutes of the stars but the bottom players are important too. Too bad there's no way to call up like 20 Marlies. I'm guessing they mail this one in completely.
ye every players health is important, but alot easier to replace what homlberg and mermis etc do than what tanev and matthews do(or insert any of the "stars" names)

i'm trying to decide if robertson scores a hat trick or if holmberg has a 1 + 2 special or if benoit becomes cale makar with the 18-22 minutes they play.

I hope both teams treat this like a preseason game physicality wise. Light skate around and whoever wins....wins

Man I'd have the 3rd and 4th lines playing that many minutes tonight there legs would fall off
Then I'd tell the defenseman anybody blocking a shot gets a 200 dollar fine 😂

Lorenz your about to get 25 even strength minutes and 1st unit PP time

bottom 6 are relatively new lines that should benefit from the extra ice time. the key players that need rest will be getting it: McCabe and OEL.

What I hope tomorrow’s game against the Wings looks like in time lapse

If somebody pots the putaway goal in a completely meaningless game, don't crack your stick into splinters over the net right next to somebody's face like a deranged psycho.

While I keep hearing about cap concerns not allowing us to rest anyone, is this confirmed? We can’t rest any of our players or just the high cap hit players in our core 4?
We had less than $200K in cap space with a 22 man roster. With McCabe, OEL and Kampf injured, we no longer had 20 healthy players for a full complement for a game. With only $200K in cap space, we could not call anyone up.

In these cases, a team is permitted an emergency recall, but with certain conditions. The Leafs had to play a man short for one game. (As the Leafs did no Saturday against the Habs.) The replacement (Dermis) had to have an AAV that was close to league minimum, and the replacement had to be for the position where the Leafs were short, i.e. defense.

If OEL or McCabe return on Thursday, Dermis must be returned to the Marlies because the Leafs will now have six healthy defensemen.

Since the Leafs have 12 healthy forwards, they cannot call up anyone else. If one (or more) of the forwards should be injured or ill prior to Thursday's game, the Leafs will still have to play short for the game.

Thus, the team that played Tuesday will be the same team that plays Thursday.

What a year. It's been awhile since we had a throwaway game. Just stay healthy fellas.
It's been good right? The record isn't really that different but they have won the games they should, grabbed a bunch they maybe shouldn't have, and are generally just in every game. Same record, different way of getting it. It feels much better.

I wish we could rest some guys, but give me 20+ of all the bottom sixers and <10 of the top line.

I hope McCabe and/or OEL are good to go to play tonight and they give Tanev a rest game. Same for Kampf to give Matthews a game off.

Just recently there was an article about players signing for $100k less than NHL minimum so that they can be recalled for emergency basis without counting against the Cap next year.

Is this the first time using this loophole?

Can they not put OEL, McCabe, Kampf on LTIR for this game retroactive to their last games. And use their cap space to bring up Marlies? That is like 11.5 million of contracts they can call up to play tonight. You can probably sit Carlo, Tanev, Reilly and rest forwards like Matthews, Tavares, Marner and Nylander. Plug in Marlie forwards.

When a player is put on LTIR they must miss 10 Games and 24 days.

Both McCabe and Kampf's last game was April 2nd and 7 games ago (counting tonight)

OEL was more recent than that.

Only way for them to go on LTIR is if they're missing some playoff games.

Reverse the lineup lol

McMann Holmberg Robertson- 22 min
Lorentz Laughton Jarnkok - 22 min
Domi Tavares Nylander- 8 ( PP)
Knies Matthews Marner - 8 ( PP)

Mermis Myers 26 (Pk)
Benoit Tanev 19
Rielly Carlo 15

There should be no penalties, no blocked shots, but if someone steps on a stick, Mermis and Myers get the PK.

Play as quiet a game as possible. When Red Wings wind up for the big shot, let the shot through, no need to block. More dumping in, more trapping in the neutral zone. No fights or overly physical play.

Make it a game of focus on special teams. Refine the PP and PK positioning.

Leafs should have traded Kampf to the Wings for future considerations today, and called up 2 from the minors for this game.

Future considerations ... Leafs take back Kampf for Matt Murray after the playoffs.
