don't really agree. babcock's argument was that marner is a line driver as is matthews so marner was suppose to drive the tavares line while matthews supposed to drive his line that way creating match up headaches for opposition

I'd even give babcock some props where he did throw out matthews-marner out in the playoffs sometimes when leafs were trailing. keefe never broke matthews-marner even for one shift in the playoffs

I think he has to take at least one lap with the Cup, although maybe he gets in another 5 years after this contract is up stays healthy and bags another 150+ goals and that might do it if he doesn't have a cup. I really do think the cup is crucial.

Yeah, Big 4 should mix and match depending on the opposition. I would even try Matthews and Tavares together in a heavy grind game. Or Marner and Nylander on their own line.

He’s not so easily replaceable at what we expected this year. Sure we don’t resign him, but he’s needed this year with our depth.
