Yes I 100% agree

Sheldon keefe got fired because he chose to play some number 4-6’s over a #7

It wasn’t totally because his style of offence produced almost nothing, with his special teams being horrible, and his inability to get the core 4 to work in the playoffs.

lol, if those guys are bums, Liljegren is the diarrhea that comes out of bums
Lyubushkin is not a #4-6. Keefe made bad line-up decisions and lost his job.

Robertson has 1 meaningless goal in 9 games, it’s not like he’s been the difference between winning and losing

Robertson has a +2 goal differential at 5v5 and Reaves has a -3.

Even if he is not putting up points, he offers more than Reaves.

Playing on different lines and in different situations. If one was replacing the other your argument might make sense. Also, +/- is such an arbirtary stat that all 6 guys on the ice contrubute to.

That being said, Robertson is the more talented player for sure. More effective? Not sure. If Reaves is not scoring he can hit, fight, create some energy. What else can Robertson do? I hope he has a great game and finds a way to contrubute every game. So far, he hasn't proven to be any kind of a difference maker.

The rest of the quote was a bit more praising Nylander than that snippet. However, playing an 11m player 18 mins a game isn't exactly the best idea when your bottom 6 lines haven't been good.

He played 17 mins vs Winnipeg despite his line crushing it and him putting up 3 points.
I don't mind the more balanced ice time during the regular season. I think it will pay off in the playoffs.

It isn't +/-

Robertson is more effective in every stat though.

Reaves hits more, that is it... he also hasn't been hitting much and has 0 fights, he has also created no energy.

If Reaves was doing anything, you'd have a point, but he isn't.

Reaves is more of a defensive liability than pretty much anyone, move Holmberg down to 4RW instead of Reaves.

You can't be less effective than Reaves currently.

So neither of them are doing anything I think is what we are saying... one guy where expectations are low or near zero and another guy who asked for a trade because he wasn't getting playing time, that has been given this season and done nothing with.

As most have observed, Robertson prob needs to be in a top 6 role to be effective. There is no space for that on this team right now.

Compare them relative to each other, not relative to expectations...

Robertson was productive in a bottom 6 role last year, no reason he wouldn't be this year.

There is space in the bottom 6 for him.

Seattle is a pretty slow skating team. Advantage Leafs.

The Leafs, to me, don't do that well against younger, faster teams that push them. That is not Seattle. Seattle plays a 'smarter, slower' game. Thats who the Leafs match up better against.

The guy is gone, must we continue to beat a dead horse?
Okay, but what are your thoughts on Marleau?

I actually thought the "if deserved" was quite a telling comment at the end. I like it.

Seattle plays a boring, low event kind of game, and they aren't really even good at that. Their lineup is littered with a bunch of decent, but not great, guys who basically all need to be firing on all cylinders at the same time for the team to win. Their high draft picks haven't worked out, so it's basically a veteran-laden team that doesn't even have a remarkable prospect pool.

I liked the balance approach as well... but the gap is bigger because Matthews and Marner's toi has increased so it's not more balanced right now. It's not the 4th/3rd lines getting more minutes as far as I can tell.

Leafs are 6th in the league right now in goal differential 5v5, +8

If we can get the special teams down... we can compete.

Considering we had a few stinkers defensively that is pretty good.

Been waiting for our special teams to get better for years now. One year they were top 10 for both, but usually one is bad

It's so dumb. Playing a 37 year old enforcer or a young kid who needs the reps and the ice time. Slide Holmberg down to 4th line and play Robby with McMann and Domi.
Holmberg isnt a young kid

Hes a 25 going 26 year old who will be 13th forward for most good teams.

Our depth is hurt with Dewar and Jarnkrok being out as both are still better players then him

Robertson should play but over Holmberg and not Reeves

Reeves should be scratched once Dewar is back

Didn't realize Daccord is 4-1-1 so far with a .914. Their other goalies must've really shit the bed

That's PK and he leans on MM and AM to close out games defensively.

Joseph woll’s stats don’t look pretty woof

Yea I know it’s been a single game
