GDT: Leafs vs Flames

The last 2 games were must win games. I am not sure what to call this one. We are desperately in need of some sign of life or hope. The Leafs were in the driver seat to win the division and have completely shat themselves and look like they can't execute the basics of the sport.

The Flames are the easiest opponent we will face over this stretch of games. If we can't look like a team who somewhat belongs in the playoffs this game...

If we can't beat the Flames I wouldn't be too optimistic going into the playoffs. We have to win a few in a row here, or at least get 3/4 points in the next 2 games. Had a huge opportunity to take the division lead and the guys just don't want it.

Of course. Must be very tired from having to travel everywhere. Other teams must not do that. I think we should petition the league that all teams just come to Toronto 82 times a season and absolutely no back to backs

Pretty sure it was a red herring. Sure, by the numbers it was "easier", but the way the games and travel are scheduled it is anything but. That being said, every team is dealing with the same thing.

The season should start in September, spread the games out a little bit and allow for the winter break regardless if it is for all-star, world cup or olympic events.

McDavid hasn't been the same since the "4 Tournament."

Matthews having about 3 chances to win it for his American colleagues and coming up short isn't getting it done since returning.

Perhaps the emotional toll was too great.

McDavid has started to look like his old self, but Draisaitl has carried them.
Tavares would be the one that had to carry the Leafs, but those years are gone, and the other Core players were there.

Spending way too much time in their own zone lately; nothing good ever comes from that. It looks like they're trying to kill penalties half the time they're 5v5. PK has looked futile the last little while, too. Need to get that good mojo back in a hurry.
