Sad that Kerfoot, who is having a career year (30 assists/2x last year) is not the answer. Robbie is a better goal scorer so who knows.

Line 1 and 3 have been playing well overall and you don't really want to mess with them. So it seems logical to demote Kerfoot and try Robertson. Is it fair... hell no. Kerfoot has been playing well overall and I think he's been good on the forecheck. Now the kid gets a shot so let's see what happens. It could be a good problem to have if he's able to do it with the deadline coming up.

Likely trying to figure out if it is Robertson or Kerfoot who gets throw overboard to pick up a D man .. to me it is Robertson for sure .. he will fetch more and he is years away and likely never makes it .. we need Kerfoot this year based on his playoffs last year .. Willy and Kerfoot was all we had against Habs

The issue on that line sadly is not who's been rotated out, its that JT and Willy have not been good enough. Only once they start playing to their standards will we see which 3rd linemate is the best - Kerfoot, Kase, Robbie etc. If that line sucks again it wont be because of Robertson

I really don't know what Simmonds currently brings to this team. How tough a team plays is not based on one individual, its the whole team mentality. Having Simmonds hasn't really deterred other teams from taking liberties or being very physical. I think he should sit and Kase should play instead (assuming he's healthy), he's a better player period. Robertson has a great opportunity here, if he shines he could steal a spot, its certainly up for grabs.

Also any announcement of which of our struggling goalies is starting?

Has to be Campbell, no?

If Sandin is out, they should give Liljegren a chance on PP2. I'm pretty much certain they will play Brodie instead. Robertson should be on PP2
The refusal to try Liljegren on the PP at any level confuses me.

Neither Keefe or Moore played him there in the AHL either though so I do not have high hopes.

This BS of continuing to play Holl blows by mind .. da guys is BY FAR weakest skill level we have on defense .. da weakest .. his idiot level play will cost us more than Sandin's rook errors .. and ONLY reason why Sandin looked so so bad against Sabres was entirely because of Keefer .. colossal error by Keefer to play Sandin on 1st pair, on wrong side and with wrong offensive partner .. Keefer f*cked over Sandin .. just wrong very wrong

I cannot argue against your position, although I'd be less harsh on Holl. Holl just seems to lack intuition. Maybe that's why he took so long to get there he plays by what he's learned, not just natural ability?

And if you watch the goals against, really had some bad bounces, the one in the slot where the puck bounced and he was covered by 2 forwards after weak board play giving the puck to the Sabres. They cross ice pass from Rielly that went off his stick as his weight was shifted forward, and puck was behind. One that bounced off his legs to the uncovered guy in front, this play he was outmuscled before the puck arrived. So who else was playing defense at that time, in addition to the own goal?

My guess is Keefe truly underprepared the team to play the Sabres and thought they would be a pushover.
If you want to try him on his off-wing, start the experiment with a defensive defenseman, who is good defensively ... okay find a LD who is good defensively.

Why not just do Sandin-Liljegren on the 3rd. pair, both effectively rookies.

100%. I think pretty much everyone has come to the realization that Holl is the weak link on the backend.

I've wanted Holl gone for a while now but he hasn't been that bad recently.

Also, I hope with that Robertson promotion it means Mikheyev is off that 2nd PP unit and Robertson in his place too.

Go back to the pairings we used against Minnesota. That was the most cohesive I can recall our d look in a long time.

Rielly Brodie
Dermott Liljegren
Sandin Lyubushkin

Same here .. we have ONLY played 1 game all season where we out grinded a grinder team .. until I see a better defensive performance then that one this is what I would go with .. proven result .. wish I had thought of it myself .. FIT in hockey is critical and we need to be playoff hockey ready

I am a pretty big fan of Robertson but I'm just saying never a problem to have 2 guys going good.

If it was me I would trade Sandin, our 2023 1st rounder and Mik for Jakob and do it today .. more time for team to practice before playoffs .. maybe have to get Mik to do a sign and trade before trade occurs .. Mik wants a shot in a top 2 lines role and Zona best spot to do it

T
After the other night I thing Egvall should sit forever.

That defense looks real bad.
here might be some gezoals for surely sire. In both ends of the ice sire. But we'll win this one. I like the robertson demotion on the tavares line. He'll get tavvy going. Tavvy's going to scesore a gezoal tomorrow night y'all  He gon scesore a goal on their asses.

I think that seems like a reasonable trade offer but who knows what Arizona wants forsure. Seems like the price tag will be very high. Id hate to give up on Sandin yet. Yeah still lots of learning to do but I think he's going to be pretty damn good.

That all makes sense, I'm just not sure that Jakob is the right guy... Is that what we need, or do we need to be harder to play against, and better defensively? You think he can do that? Thoughts?
