I mean, I figured Tampa may win this game, but what really grinds my gears is how piss poor of an effort the entire team has given. How can you not have more pride than that? After what happened against Montreal last post-season and this is egg you decide to lay? I don't understand it.
Matthews and Marner are two of the best offensive talents in the NHL, why can't they contribute goals at the same rate in the playoffs as they do in the regular season or near it? Matthews has 2 goals in 4 games, Marner 2 goals in 4 games, it's not good enough. I was willing to overlook their average 5 on 5 play in game 3 because of secondary scoring, but this is perplexing to me. Marner has shown some fight and spirit, but Matthews hasn't show the same effort to me, hasn't shown me that extra killer instinct, he's been pretty meh to me since game 1, he's just not bringing it.
Tavares and Nylander have given the Leafs nothing. No passion, no effort, no anger to do better, just disappearing when the games are most important. This really disappoints me to no end. How can you have such a decent regular season then decide to mail it in the playoffs? Show some heart, passion and effort. I've seen some from Nylander here and there, game one mainly, but for the most part, it's been non-existent.
Our secondary players have been the best players for most of the playoffs.
I have no words other than being utterly disappointed. Tampa is playing like a true champion, Toronto is playing like it's a pre-season game, look lost out there, like they don't care. Well, if they don't care, neither do I. Not gonna yell or curse about them anymore tonight, I only cuss when I care, I don't care now.
