Looking forward to this one. Heading down for the game. Makar may just be my favourite non leaf outside of McDavid. Hoping the west coast return doesn’t play a factor like it often does. 5-3 buds

Have a feeling this is going to be one of those games where they get down early.

Have they announced the Starter for Colorado yet?

The thing that's impressed me most about the Leafs during this run of play is how they've been able to hold it down during the first ten minutes when teams can come flying out of the gate - they did it their last game against Anaheim.

If Colorado comes out fast and hard but can be held to one or less goals, the Leafs can jump on their suspect goaltending.

Hold off the opening salvo and then settle into your game.

Marquee matchup. If the Leafs beat up on these guys that will be a real feather in their cap for establishing top contender status.

You'd have to think they would jump to the top of any Power Ranking out there.

I agree although as late as the eve of the California sweep the media was still bandwagoning on the Calgary Flames and favouring non Leaf teams. So the best way to open some eyes would be to crush another contender.

For me this is a fun measuring stick cause I was following Colorado as a mirror contender last season, though they’ve changed in composition a bit and had some injury issues.

'This past week the Maple Leafs went 4-0-0 and outscored their opponents 18-4 while sweeping the always brutal California trip. The big four are all PPG or above and they ran a 23% Power Play and an 80% Penalty Kill, while Jack Campbell shows no signs of slowing down, saving 66 of 69 shots in victories over Los Angeles and Anaheim.

The Leafs rank 7th this week in Power Rankings, passed by the Oilers, who lost to the 22nd ranked Stars and barely got by the 31st ranked Coyotes, because McDavid got 11 points in those games.'

Kadri is killing it in his contract year. I think he's as good as gone from Colorado after this season. No way he's taking a pay cut on his likely last and biggest contract. If Danault makes 6M, he's probably between Danault and Zibanejad.

You think he would be interested in going to Montreal if they threw the cash at him?

Probably but I can't imagine Gorton spending cash next year. He's probably going to want to shed contracts like Gallagher, Andersen, Toffoli etc to go hard to tank for Bedard.

Montreal's owner probably has a cap in place while rebuilding as well... as they are paying Bergevin and his staff, Claude Julien and they will likely fire Ducharme (he's under contract for 2 more years) + they have to pay a new GM, his assistants and new coaches.

For those that have been to games this year, how is getting into the arena? Does it take longer due to vaccine stuff?

I'd love it if he came back but I know that's not realistic especially considering hes gonna want a raise. We'll see what happens though, should be an interesting storyline.

This should be a burn burner, so lets hope Leafs have a fire extinguisher.

They don't need a fire extinguisher.

Like you always say, defense wins championships. Leafs are 2nd best in that regard, Colorado is 23rd.

We need more players we can't count on in the crunch.

3 out of the last 4 playoffs he's decided that his ego was more important than his team.

Yeah, I'd steer clear of him because A) he loses his cool but more importantly B) the DoPS clearly has it out for him so even a toe out of line would result in a suspension for him.
