Post-Game Talk: Leafs tie Season Series with Senators

I just read this on TSN page:
"NHL looking into Senators shooting pucks at Stolarz in warmup"

The video of it doesn't work for me for some reason.
Can somebody tell me what happened? Did they talk about it during intermissions or post game cause I sure as heck didn't hear anything about this & missed the entire incident?

Cousins shot a puck at Stolarz in warmup

Cousins fined 2K (max under the CBA) and the Sens fined 25K

Patches in for Robertson, who I don't dislike, was a revelation. I mean, maybe it's because Domi has a spark after that OT winner, but that line looked a million times more effective with Pacioretty on the wing. Even in the brief moments Holmberg was there and Patches was up with JT and Willy it looked good. I just think it's not the right mix with Robertson on the line.
I don’t hate Robbie either - but facts…

It’s hard to play hockey on your ass. Never seen a Leaf’s player who was off of his skates more than him.

This was the first time in about two years I didn't know the outcome before watching the game.

Normally it's impossible to avoid the score for longer than about five minutes after waking up. Even if you don't go on the internet there's always some loudmouth who thinks it's hilarious to tell you the results. During the regular season I normally don't care and can't be bothered anymore.

But man was it ever good today to watch this game and see them take a stranglehold on the series.

If they lost this round it would have been the biggest bust for this core yet. Even going to seven games would have been a disappointment. A sweep is just the confidence boost they need to take on a real contender in the next round.

I'm sorry but anyone using this series to "prove" the Leafs have become a playoffs warrior is getting ahead of themselves.

I'm just as happy as the next fan the Leafs are destroying the Senaturds. But Ottawa stinks and their coach is even worse than Keefe. Celebrating like Toronto just won the Stanley Cup is a little premature.

The results of this series were known before it even started.
every win doesnt matter...every loss is a referendum

You must have missed David Clarkson's tenure with the team....we had a drinking game based around him falling down and having to do shots. A few bouts of almost getting alcohol poisoning stopped that quickly...

Really missing Engvall and

That was the 2nd time Joe Thornton lost 4 games in a row and epic meltdown of one of his team

The other one was obviously being 3-1 to the Habs with the leafs
Speaking of Thornton, remember when Lou thought Patrick Marleau would be a good influence on the then young core?

Didn't like all the garbage Robertson took after game 2 (consider that he was being blamed for being on the ice on the tying goal, even though he was 0% responsible for it.) And it was him who tracked back and pressured the Sens forward who turned it over to Benoit in overtime.

But o-zone penalties have been one of his issues this year, so I was fine with taking him out, especially with Patches waiting on the sideline. And yeah, that line definitely possessed better. Gotta go with Patches vs Sens, Panthers, Kings, Vegas, at a minimum.

So did the team. The Bud's are building the legend of Benny!

5-2 shots in favour of the Bud's in the 3rd period. I don't even think the Lemaire/Brodeurs' Devils in their hey days were grinding out periods such as that. Hats off to the Leafs, that was quite a performance.
The defence was impressive, everybody was where they had to be, and let no Senators go where they wanted to be. OEL, McCabe, Benoit and Tanev were the best Leafs defenders on the night, they kept everyone to the outside and no one asked nicely. Carlo and Reilly both finessed their way into creating turnovers. Everybody got in front of pucks giving Stolarz a lot of help in keeping the SOG totals down.

The bottom 6 doesn't look like anything the Leafs have iced in the previous 9 years. They don't look like they need to be sheltered against any line Ottawa puts out. They're agile, mobile and hostile as we used to say. They're not taking any prisoners on the forecheck and it looks like the Senators are looking over their shoulders and giving up pucks in their own zone pucks they would normally play.

The PK is more than adequate in being a part of a winning effort. The PP looks like the 76 Canadiens, the 81 Islanders or even 87 Oilers. They are flat out lethal, I'm really hoping they can keep it up through most of the playoffs.

In other good news the big boy looks like he might be back for real, Marner is the early Leafs pick for the Connie alongside of Stolarz and JT.

Just a thought, even though he has 4 points it doesn't look like Will has joined the party yet, look out when he does! In another thought we now have 4 goals in 3 games from our defence, incredible production for a D that struggled to score for the majority of the season.

GLG
I loooooove that our 4th line can be trusted against a 1st line, that's a huge advantage in away games in the playoffs. Interestingly, it seemed to just fall into place like a week before playoffs, eh?
