Post-Game Talk: Leafs tie Season Series with Senators

Ottawa was, is and always will be the little brother...and it just burns their asses so badly.

Presuming this team doesn't perform the worst choke in NHL history and lose 4 straight, Florida is the likely opponent. All i have to say is that if this team is serious they're going to have to beat one or more teams like that regardless, so there's no time like the present to change the narrative.

for some unknown reason it's 3-0

they been coasting all series, no killer instinct. face it, they been playing like sh* for the majority of these games, no aggression, no excitement, no desire to blow out Ottawa and just take it to them. they're just taking a small lead and then sitting back, allowing the Sens back into it each time

but somehow they have a big lead

it must mean Ottawa is just that bad? because there's no way this should be 3-0
You should really put the crackpipe away before watching the games.

Green can't wait to GTFO out of that podium right now
I have never seen a man so broken

If he's my coach, he does not impose any level of confidence

Gonna bathe in the tears of Sen fans

Anyone got a funny Stutzle diving picture? I need a new FB PROFILE pic lol

On this dive by Stuzle he got a 10 from the American, a 10 from the Canadian, and an 8.5 from the Russian. Tough judges those Ruskies.

Found his rookie card!

The leafs are playing a conservative game. I don’t get why people are having such a hard time understanding this. Matthews literally spoke about it. The players are more comfortable playing this way. They have bought in completely to Berube’s philosophy of minimizing turn overs. When the leafs start playing that race track hockey they look horrendous and it usually results in goals for the opposition.

We might loosen up against Florida, but to beat the sens this is the formula. It’s not about looking pretty with passing plays so your entertainment value is heightened. It’s about the leafs playing a way that will be conducive to success. They will adjust against Florida but for Ottawa the run and gun style is not needed to beat Ottawa.

It’s not an unknown reason, Toronto wants the wins like this.

and the hilarious thing is. if they were playing frantic and just doing crap - people would be saying that we haven't learned for the past seven years. like. guess what it's shut down hockey where we pretty much dominate the play. holy smokes. some people simply just want to be miserable.

Nothing is over till it’s over, but this series is a bit different than that one. 1. Montreal took game 1, so even though they were down there was a belief they could win.

2. Ottawa is literally not getting shots through

3. Carey price who is a complete X factor is not in net for Ottawa. It’s Linus Ullmark whose numbers in the playoffs are pretty garbage.

My head says leafs in 5, my heart says this is over on Saturday. We’ll probably see the best version of the leafs on Saturday come out guns blazing.
This series is over.

Defense-first Boring wins beat offense-first entertaining losses anytime. If our leafs played reckless with run and gun style, it would be a 2-1 series lead for the sens right now. The Bend but not break/rope a dope strategy is paying dividends for us so far.

Against the senators , the Leafs are playing a disciplined, Smart and Patient defensive-oriented game with opportunistic scoring and excellent goaltending.

Against the panthers (likely the winner of the battle of Florida) we will adjust accordingly and probably use a more aggressive/intense version of the berube system based on speed, skill and heavier puck possession.

Yup! You nailed it Daisy (good to see you back)

We’ve been screaming for something to be different about this group. It finally is and all people are complaining about is, it’s not exciting hockey. I’m tired of the leafs dominating the shots totals, possession and all, only to lose.

I fully agree.

I do feel we are playing one of the weaker teams in the playoffs... not to take anything away, because this style of play translates against every opponent... but lets just remember the Sens are not a cup contender.

If we are able to fisnigh this off, the second round opponent will be a different beast. One I do think this team will be up for though, without a doubt!

The Sens are young and developing, giving them a good beating and creating some scar tissue isn't a bad thing if we're going to have to go through them for the next few years

Once you've been beaten down it's hard to fight back, look at us and Boston

We can beat those other teams, but we're going to have to be at our best

Benoit is a beast! He's been so clutch in the playoffs that its almost unbelievable

Stolarz wasn't his sharpest, but he was at a .900 and made key saves when needed (apart from the ugly mans stinker).

Marner had a rough 2nd, completely changed that in the 3rd. Seems like that's been his thing this season, he's able to recover if things aren't going his way. Had the same thing in 4 nations, and down the stretch for 100 too he didn't miss out.

Playoff Mo exists, we all know it

That is now 3 depth goals in 3 games. TWO GAME WINNERS

dust these scrubs off in game 4
