I am still so f***ing PUMPED after last night's game. As @Coachcorner would put it -> Hard so very HARD right now!

I wish I could inject the crowd excitement for every Campbell save, JT and Willy goal right into my veins LOL
We AS MAPLE LEAFS are really jucying right now sisire! hard!! We is full of mellons and organic foods like goji and pumpkin seeds sire! FULL OF IT! We are turning into such thugs even our momma won't recognize us. Our hardness that great.

Wow the opposition never usually gets suspensions against the leafs

Could have been many more as it was a predatory hit and appeared to be entirely on purpose.

What a mature pro hockey team does about this sort of thing:
- doesn't whine about it in the media or social media even if the media ghouls try to get you to say something about it
- never brings it up again
- next time the 2 teams meet Segachev learns what it's like to receive a glancing chin hit

Watching sandin and lily progress each game has been a highlight for me.

I love how during those three chances in the first period where three Leafs defense men were beat, Muzzin went flying to the ice like some goof, Dermott (or was that Holl? No, I don't care enough to memorize their jersey numbers) looked like he was confused and doing a little dance, but Lilly dove in an effort to make the shooter's life harder in any way he could. And it probably helped make that shot a poster. Even when beat, Lilly was doing everything he could to mess up the play.

and sometimes we will win when we really don't deserve to.

Those types of wins are almost always the result of a goalie stealing the game.

Mrazek was signed as insurance should Campbell not resign for any reason, and if they do resign Campbell to even an 4-5 million contract....Mrazek can then be traded and a cheaper backup signed.

OR we keep Mrazek and have a solid backup goalie for when Campbell needs a long stretch of rest.

"BUT THEN THE LEAFS DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH CAP SPACE FOR DEPTH!"

So the hell what? Since when does the depth do anything worth caring about? Outside of Spezza, who is only getting older, we've got a bunch of blah players you barely notice. Leafs get a hot goalie defended by AHL'ers and they get boned. Campbell breaks his back making saves and we win on the effort of the fourth line. Clearly the goalie makes a bigger difference than having a bunch of third and fourth liners who can score 10 goals instead of 5.

And, yes, if Mrazek sucks that changes the conversation. I shouldn't have to point that out, it's obvious, but this is the internet...

Hockey is a game of inches sometimes.

If Norris trophy Dman Hedman simply lobs a moon ball out of the zone with less than a minute left its likely game over, however he muffs that clearing play and its in the back of TB net and were heading to OT.

Sometimes it takes a little puck luck to be good, because that was a very unlikely give-away normally, as he wasn't even under pressure.
Or if he makes the correct play and just passes the puck to Point the game is over. If one of our defensmen just lobbed the puck up the middle in the final minute of a 1 goal game the mob would be ready for them...immediately. That was a bad luck play from Hedman...it was just a flat out bad play.

Unsung hero Matthews gave him a one hander on the shins there just before Hedman was going to loft the puck and it looked like it affected him too.

You're right in that it was a bad play though. Even the best players screw up once in a while.

Marner to his left, Matthews to his right. It's actually a 5 on 2 on that side. Hedman and Point versus the 5. Too much credit being given to Hedman making a bad play, not enough credit being given to the Leafs for the forecheck.

There is no pass to Point, Matthews took it away, and ringing it off the boards from behind the net has to get past 3 leafs (Marner, then Tavares then Nylander).

All he had was a quick lob and like you said Matthews took care of that.

That reminded me of a song. Marner to the left of him, Matthews to his right, here I am stuck in the middle with you.

Fun game to watch. Apart from Hedmans melt down, been a long time since i saw a leaf goalie coming up big like that.. Good to see Tavares leading and Marner slowly getting back to smiles and game winning passes. And Nylander, great rocket for his third game winner this season.

Please don't kick me out of here for this.

Other then the brutal 2 man advantage, the best game I have seen in awhile. Nice to see goaltending like that again for the Leafs. Hope Campbell gets signed soon.

Overall in different threads I see comments regarding they made it hard on themselves or the win was harder than it needed to be. I get it. You want to win and win easy by playing well and effectively. And maybe that will and should happen often against a team like the Coyotes. But I remember a line from Keefe in AoN saying something like "This isn't supposed to be easy, it's supposed to be hard. Good results/things come from hard challenges." Or something along those lines. Honestly, most wins by any team in this league against Tampa will be hard. That's what happens when you beat a good team. Odds are it was hard to do, and you likely had to overcome tough challenges such as an onslaught or giving up odd man rushes (cause hey, these will happen to every team, hopefully you limit them, but they are unavoidable overall).

On a night where the other teams didn't get much there's always the standard comment "Well Campbell didn't have to do much" and on nights where he had to make huge saves it's "Well the team shouldn't have made it so hard on him". So the question is, which one do you want? Cause one of the two are going to happen.

I don't know. I mean yes you want some easy and dominant wins here and there, but no win against Tampa will come easy, so it's like who cares? I'd rather win after it being a hard challenge than lose after no challenge cause the team didn't show up for the challenge. Hard wins are good practice, cause in the playoffs they won't come easy.
