Seriously it's been over 50 years since the Leafs won the SC ... how many Leaf fans can there be outside Ontario?:D

I live in Vancouver and I am a Jet fan and only go to the Jet/Canuck games ... I'll be pissed if I was not allowed to go to the Jet games because the home fans are upset I'm cheering for the Jets.

The bolded is pretty much what the goaltending job is all about - being in the right place at the right time - some would call that a skill.
I wouldn't take anything away from Anderson last night - he was very good and he didn't have to stand on his head. He made most of those saves look easy with a lot of those shots coming too slow off the stick.

I note that Andersen was very "quiet" in the net, superb positioning through much of the first period. Helle can easily look like this much of the time, I recall a recent California trip....

Chevy's shopping list keeps getting longer as the losses start to pile up, what's that now 5 straight at home, has to be some sort of record?
his shopping list started at the end of last season plus the summer and he did nothing why do you think he will change now.

Not true at all. 1st 2 years he would have at least a hat trick yesterday on the pp alone
he's not as efficient with his shot anymore. 11.3% currently SH% after 12.2% last season. not sure if we see the high-teens like the first 2 years. Scheifele's maintained a high SH% for 4 seasons now (lower shot volume though probably helps)

Giving away Pionk is not smart. He's been our best D and fits in dollar wise as well.

Our D is not as bad as people bemoan around here. We are just missing a couple of top 4 guys.

Buff and Kulikov back takes pressure off guys who are playing too high up in the lineup. We have lots of very good options for our 5,6,7 spots.

The Buff situation is killing us right now. You can't really blame Chevy because it was thrust on him and he's handcuffed.

Chevy is only handcuffed by this organization's misguided sense of loyalty. Trade him for a late draft pick and bag of pucks. Hell, put him on waivers and maybe another team makes him their problem. Right now, he is more liability than asset, and I don't see that changing. If indeed his plan was to retire, Chevy should have just let him, instead of putting the team into salary purgatory.

As for Pionk, I have a feeling he's on the cusp of a downturn. We're getting into serious hockey season now. Teams will be playing a more intense game, ramping up the pressure on our D and I think we'll see Pionk starting to wilt.

Kulikov? I've heard more negative comments on him than positive, and even if he isn't that bad, he can only replace one guy. The problem with this team's D goes far beyond one defenseman. Our supposed #1 D Morrissey can't seem to get his shit together for any extended period. Maybe he needed Trouba like Garfunkle needed Simon.

Like the Trooper song, I think this team is a 3 dressed up as a 9. And it's wasting my time. Chevy and Maurice need to go. It's 2020, let's get some people with that vision.

Because he's more reactive than proactive. I think he's on the verge of doing something stupid. Just not sure what that will be.

Best Trooper Song - Janine. Really easy to play on guitar, too.

Oh yeah, hockey. Tough loss last night.

Fair enough. I was thinking the same thing as I was typing it. But there is a certain amount of luck involved when the puck just happens to end up where you are.

...... if he had passes that allowed him to shoot before the goalie and the opposing D got into postion.

First 2 years he would!

I do think that some of Laine's shot regression is simply between his ears while a big portion is a change in circumstances. I think he'll pull the % up by 1 or 2 points by the end of year though. He's shooting 14.8% since start of December (8 goals in 14 games) and 11.3% on the year (I think we can all agree he had some bad luck and poor choices in the beginning of the season). I think he'll maintain about 14-15% from here on out, maybe 15-16% if he gets a bunch of empty netters.

We can agree to disagree. I think if you are getting 50 shots you should be scoring at a higher percentage unless you are shooting those into the goalies pads.

So the goalie's play has nothing to do with it? If that is your position then, I agree to disagree. Andersen was lights out or Jets would have had 2-3 more goals.

You are looking at a small sized sample and expecting the kind of results you would see from a much larger sample. Leafs' SH% last night was 21.4. That's high for a top scorer on any 1 team, much less a whole team. You don't expect them to sustain that, do you?

But how does the ticket seller know for sure it'll be a Jets fan? A Leaf/Habs/etc. fan could just lie and say "uh yeah, I'm a Jets fan" and now gets a ticket to a game they might not have been able to attend.

Well, he could start by selling/giving it to a person he knows. Otherwise, I suppose he could insist on searching the buyers closet and basement.

The only thing I am even more disgusted with than the Maple Leafs and their delusional fanbase is the way Hellebuyck played last night.

Watching him play like that last night makes me want to puke.

Andersen didn’t make any highlight reel saves they just weren’t great shots.

Forgot a few games outweighs a few hundred.
Isn’t that the light we are shining all players with during this losing streak? Helly getting compared to pav. Expecting our stars to be better. Connor, Laine, and Schief have picked up their games the last few games, Ehlers has not. But no my bad I forgot Ehlers is exempt.
