Chevy is only handcuffed by this organization's misguided sense of loyalty. Trade him for a late draft pick and bag of pucks. Hell, put him on waivers and maybe another team makes him their problem. Right now, he is more liability than asset, and I don't see that changing. If indeed his plan was to retire, Chevy should have just let him, instead of putting the team into salary purgatory.
As for Pionk, I have a feeling he's on the cusp of a downturn. We're getting into serious hockey season now. Teams will be playing a more intense game, ramping up the pressure on our D and I think we'll see Pionk starting to wilt.
Kulikov? I've heard more negative comments on him than positive, and even if he isn't that bad, he can only replace one guy. The problem with this team's D goes far beyond one defenseman. Our supposed #1 D Morrissey can't seem to get his **** together for any extended period. Maybe he needed Trouba like Garfunkle needed Simon.
Like the Trooper song, I think this team is a 3 dressed up as a 9. And it's wasting my time. Chevy and Maurice need to go. It's 2020, let's get some people with that vision.
