mete could barely play for two of the worst teams in hockey last year they'll try to sneak him down to the Marlies.

Everyone lost their minds over Adam Brooks and Michael Amadio.

It's also a bit of a tongue in cheek exaggeration. There was quite a few overreactions over them and there will be if/when Mete gets claimed.

Just another reclamation project.

Scored a big goal against the Leafs in the playoffs. That one hurt.

Liljegren, Sandin, Reilly, Mete, Brodie scare NO ONE!

And it’s not like Gio and Muzzin and big time bruisers

Bottom 6 is softer than whipped cream.
Such a sad thought our no.1 physical guy on the backend (Muzzin) is someone teams will willingly flip the puck to all game when dumping it in because they know he's wearing down significantly. Boosh was such a new experience. So different watching forwards have to take that extra look when he's out or change their path out of fear. Then he becomes a scapegoat for everyone because our terrible balance forced him to play too high up.

Is there even one person here who thinks Muzzin will play over 60 games if he has to play 20+ minutes a night in tough usage? Then when he's out it will be massacre around the net.

What sort of depth defenseman are you looking for? Are you looking for the Ilya Lybushkin-style of physicality?

Dubas
: Yeah, if there is preferably a right shot with some physicality, competitiveness, size, and strength, that would be what we would look for.

We would like to announce we’ve signed Victor Mete.

Hmmm.

Before anyone complains they should go familiar themselves with the Marlies situation.

The Marlies finished 6th in the North Division and out of the playoffs in a league where only 8 of the 31 teams don't make the playoffs.

The conclusion being there isn't a lot of help on the way for the parent team in terms of "Play the Kids" and so the AHL team can use all the help it can get,

Leafs walked away from Marlies Dmen without qualifying offers or UFA Kristians Rubins, Teemu Kivihalme, Joseph Duszak (who was 2nd in Marlies scoring 7-45-52 points) etc and now need warm bodies to replace them and others departing.

Mete is a perfect kind of player to replace Duszak and run the Marlies PP.

I introduce you Jordie Benn

Mostly a move for the Marlies, but you also have to think acquiring a Marlies guy who might pan out should also give your pro team some looks it currently doesn’t…

Seems Leafs are rolling back the Hab D lineup from years past.

They certainly chose a certain brand of D in Montreal. Not alot of flash, but they played the position well.

Well Marlies already have 5-9' 170 Mac Holloway right shooting Dman on the Marlies who is a Mete clone almost.

So Leafs are doubling down on players of similar size and statue.

Holloway was a former Soo player so its obvious why he is in the organization, but Mete played with Mitch Marner in London so maybe Mitch put in a good word. :sarcasm:

What is a little humorous irony with this signing is that this is now already the 3rd former Ottawa Senator from 2021-22 team along with Adam Gaudette and Matt Murray this summer that Leafs have stolen away in hopes of their organization getting better, from a team below them that doesn't want these player because they want to get better.

Silver lining being Leafs are saving a lot of travel cost for pro scouts when you do your shopping from Ottawa. :wg:

I really don't understand what's the point of this... does Dubas actually watch anything but Leafs games? What a waste of time lol

Waste of a contract spot if you ask me. Small "offensive" defenseman that produces no offense. regardless of Leafs or Marlies, I don't see why. head scratcher.

Depth on D is a waste of time? Something tells me you don't know the Toronto Marlies. I'm guessing Dubas watches more games than the entire fanbase with the reaction of the fans.
