I said I'd like to see Benoit as a PTO in that other thread. Getting him under contract straight up is a win.

He's an unspectacular player, but it's a depth paycheque for a depth role. Good move.

He played 19 minutes a game last season. That's a pretty capable player to have as depth. Especially with some rest games expected for Giordano.

tbf he really shouldnt have been playing that much. Hes much more of a #6/7 D. Anaheim was just so bad last year they had no one better. But hes a pretty physical dude.

For sure. Just pointing out that he can do that job if pressed into the role. I'd way rather have depth that has done the job before, rather than someone unproven.

I expect he'll be a healthy scratch quite often, with Toronto's roster.

Yes Anaheim as a whole was a complete disaster defensively all year. One of two players is not that cause of that, its an issue as a whole.

I would take his stats with a grain of salt. Hes similar to any other big, physical 6/7 d man.

200 hits 100 blocks? sickkkk

He never had the puck...

He is a good #8, but he is a bad hockey player and we should hope we don't see him play any games this year.

Essentially Schenn replacement. Really need those nosey D as it was very evident last playoffs

If he is 1/4th as good as Schenn I'd be surprised.

Schenn was playing like a #2D for us, if Benoit plays like a #6, I'd be happy.
