Domi & McMann stay in over him (at least on the 3rd line), easily.

And as Kyper pointed out yesterday there's little to no chance this suddenly-hot 3rd line is the Leaf's 3rd line going into the playoffs.

Domi and Robertson having chemistry has been a nice surprise.

I'm not sure why people are surprised - they have always been good together, even last year. Surprised it took as long as it did to get them back together this year lol

I said early on that he was getting chances, working hard and playing responsible so it wasn't all lost. That won't always be enough, especially on a supposed contender, but, eventually the puck luck evens out. He should pattern his game after Theo Fleury, his acceleration, shiftiness and quick release remind me of him. The potential is there if used. Speed x weight = force. If he uses his speed, he can be multi dimensional player and a pain to play against.

If he keeps playing like this I really hope he’ll want to stay after this year.

It’s great he’s scoring but I also really like that he’s developed a bit of physical side to his game recently.

He's shown enough imo. That release is elite and it seems like he's slowly getting better as a hockey player overall.

Domi obviously does not help on defence.

On the radio broadcast the other night, they pointed out that Nicky’s got the highest g/60 rate on the team since the end of November I think it was.

I hope he does well and starts scoring more. He wanted out and should be traded high as can be. It's good that he is working

Best Leaf on the ice tonight...vs Vancouver.
That line was fire!

Nick has learned how to play through contact... he has been showing it for some time now, and again tonight. His battle level is through the roof... some first liners should take a f***ing look and learn something.

He's also playing smarted, and more controlled. Zero chance I'd take him out of the lineup as long as that effort level keeps up.

Every time I read about a TDL acquisition, it's always Nicky going back as part of the package. Why? That line is playing well as a unit, so let's break it up?

Because he suffers from the same weaknesses as Marner. He will get zero space in the playoffs, he's small and not explosive/dynamic enough to create space. The way he scores goals is getting lost or being generating off the rush. He doesn't do net front battles, screen, create plays by skating/deking. We should sell high on him this TDL and address the team needs.

At least that's my take on it. A stretch of decent play for a week or two doesn't change who this player is over his career. A guy with a lethal shot and not much else.

Yeah, you might be right.

Looks like we’re now getting what many of us thought we’d get from Nick at the start of the season. His horrific start to the season makes it look like he’ll likely end up with no more than about 15 goals this season. If you subtract his first 10 games of the season, then he is on pace for about 20-25 goals this season.

I know, I know - a season is a season; you can take cherry picked stats and do what you need to do to boost or diminish pretty much anyone. If nothing else, we could sell him high right now to bring in someone to fill that numero #3 center hole (if that’s even possible).

Need to pad his stats and keep it coming
I dont like soft wingers for the playoffs so a trade would be crème brulée

Hopefully they can sell high on him. He’s not a Berube type. Just sell high and move on. Another Dubas pick out of the way

He's never been good enough or healthy enough for TOR to get a good return for him.
