Reactions: Malachi Crunch
Give Valis a bit of space, and he takes the puck straight to the net. He slips away from defenders for chances at the top of the slot, too. Even more impressive as a passer, he sets up chances with quick plays off the boards and deceptive feeds through opponents. He enters every battle with a couple of shoulder-checks, mapping out his options. -EliteProspects 2023 NHL Draft Guide

Valis, 19, ranks 152nd amongst all North American Skaters after being listed 183rd on their mid-season rankings, moving up 31 spots from January 13 to April 18. The 6-foot-2, 185 lb. forward tallied a career-high 20 goals, 28 assists and 48 points in 55 games this past season with the Pats, finishing fourth on the club in goals and fifth in scoring. The Denver, CO product completed his second year with Regina, and has totaled 73 career WHL points (31G-42A) in 112 games.

The Right-winger tallied 11 multi-point games and four multi-goal efforts this past season, with his biggest night being three goals and one assist for four points against the Edmonton Oil Kings on November 9.

Free wallet, might as well. Have also been linked to a few NCAA players. Hope we sign a few as well in order to augment our lack of picks and prospects.

Looks like he's doing good this year. 73 points in 57 games and tied with Heidt (2nd rounder in the 2023 draft - same draft year Valis was eligible for). Heidt has played 6 games less but still impressive. Is 2nd in scoring behind Parascak (76), who was a Washington 1st rounder the past draft.

Who knows, maybe or maybe not he could turn into something. But as a previous poster said, they probably did this because they will probably ship a prospect or two out at trade dealine.

New name to me, but it’s a great name.
Good sized right winger, not a lot there in the pipeline.
Hope he finishes strong and has a nice transition to the pro game.

I won't pretend to know the player, but this is the kind of move this team needs to be making. Great to see it. When they ship out draft futures every year they need to bring in talent elsewhere.

WHL overages, NCAA free agents, KHL defectors. I'm happy to see the Leafs grab talent wherever they can get it.
