The alternative right now is Hutchinson.

Kallgren is not great, but he is better than Hutchinson.

Imagine if Hugo Alnefelt or Amir Miftakhov had to go up against Jack Campbell. Those are Tampa's 4th/5th string goalies. Even their 3rd string goalie, Max Lagace, is not better than Kallgren/Hutchinson. Really, not many (if any) teams have better 4th/5th goalies than we do. We are just unfortunate enough to have to use them, while our competition have a fully healthy depth chart right now.

If Vasilevsky goes down, Tampa is screwed. Even in a runaway game like today, he made some huge saves (and had some luck). One or two of those go in, and this is probably a much different looking game.

Yea, but I see lots of quantity but not much quality. Leafs still lack that true #1. Campbell is not it. We have to use our 3rd/4th guys too much because our #1 and #2 are not reliable. That's on the GM

he's not good at his job.

If I had performed as poorly at my job has he does at his I wouldn't have a job because I'd be fired and rightfully so.

He’s not even that good at the AHL level, no shocker he’s trash at the NHL level. I don’t think we’ll ever see him in the NHL again after this season, not unless he’s put in another situation like this. He’s simply just not good enough.

Not much to say other than he's an organizational #3 or #4 that is currently being stretched beyond his means in what is at least a fairly low pressure situation.

I have no faith in Kallgren. But you can't be mad at the guy. What do you expect from a 3rd or 4th string goalie?

I'd give Hutch a start coming up. He might have to play in the playoffs if something goes wrong. He did well a couple years back with Colorado when pressed for a playoff start.
