Maybe I am reading too much into this, but its looking like Derms and Lilly role's tonight are very similar. I think they are trying to see who will be able to simplify their game better with their inexperienced partner on the other side. It was always a clear competition between those 2, but tonight might be a big night on who gets more of a look going forward

My prediction is that Timmy will look better than Derms tonight. For a couple reasons. I think Timmy is used to playing with a less defensively minded defensemen in Sandin, and often times has to proceed with a bit more caution. I also think Timmy's decision making is far less risky than Derms.

I'll say this though, Derms did look good last year in a reduced role, but he was also given Bogo to as a partner who was an absolute rock.

Should be a great competition.

I have to admit I do have a very strong bias towards Timmy. I just have so much confidence in him as a player. I think he is going to be an absolute stud in the NHL. If he plays his game, he should be a lock for the lineup IMO
I always felt the competition was between lilligren and Sandin with Lilligren having the edge.
You can add Mennel to that mix as well.

Liljegren and Sandin competition in this one. Having to do it without a Brodie or Muzzin to make them look better.
Mrazek hopefully gets the lions share of this start, as he should see a lot of rubber with this D lol
I like the Robertson-Kerfoot-Simmonds unit. That's a viable third line tbh. Kampf and Kase get to keep working on chemistry which is good

Keefe can put them in situations tailored to their game. I want to see how Robertson, Ho Sang, Gusev, Lily, Sandin, Abrahmov & Gabriel respond. Also looking forward to seeing more of Bunting & Kase. Not sure my eyes are capable of watching another Dahlstrom game however.

Should be interesting to compare how Sandin, Liljegren, and Dermott play and who QB's the PP1 and PP2.

My guess is Sandin gets top PP duties because Keefe has gifted him that role every chance he possibly can, while Liljegren gets the tough matchups and top PK duties.

Time to sink or swim Liljegren, I really hope he's given a legit chance to shine, including top line PP duties

I just don't understand the consistent negativity that follows Lily by almost the entire media. He hasn't had a path to the Leafs since he got drafted and needed some time to develop. Media treats him like he is 25 years old. Whenever I watched him on the Marlies, he was often their best player. Leafs need to give him a chance this year (say 30 games). At least figure out what you have, so when Rielly walks next July they know if he is capable of at least being part of the solution on a cheap ticket. I am convinced he is a NHL player. Not a star but a solid 4-5.

Raised eybrow at some of the listed height and weights.

Brooks 6ft, Kerfoot 5'11", Anderson 6 foot 207 lbs
Maybe i need to adjust my TV but these guys do not look that big.

Hopefully that's not the Steelers/Bengals last week.:help:

Lol. Oh God no……. Didn’t even bother watching that one.

Losing to Bungles is the Leafiest-Steeler thing to do…. Right up there with losing to the Habs in Game 7 in the playoffs after being up 3-1….

Lol...just wait until this weekend. It's only going to get worse.

Just once I wish my two teams could be good at the same time.

If Kerfoot doesn't stand out this game it should end the Kerfoot-Nylander duo I've been seeing thrown out there. We really want Nylander having a 25 goal 20 assist season?

I personally don't care if it's going to bring overall team success.

Very strange D pairings
All the pairings and lines make sense, Keefe said tonight is for the bubble guys to show they belong. All of them feature 1 or 2 players trying to break through.

Sandin, Liljegren, and Dermott anchoring their own pairings. Robertson, Ho-Sang, Gusev, and Amadio got their own lines.
