The majoirty of people who use these stats are far from stats experts and often do not even know the limitations of the stats they use.

Easy example, from the author of xGF they report a 80% accuracy so that is plus/minus 20% error. People are comparing xGF that often have a percent difference of 10% or less and therefore the comparison is literally meaningless. It is even worse when using xGF% as the error propagates for both xGF and xGA. Some very fundamental statistics that is lost on most.
