Extremely concerned with Matthews' lingering injury. He is clearly a diminished player as a result (albeit a very good one still), but as others have mentioned, we need him at 100% to have a chance at a cup.
Maybe his refusal to commit long term will end up working in our favour.

Matt Murray is also injury prone though.

I would have kept Jones.
nope
Jones is bad

I would have played Woll tonight I think the starter should generally get the divisional games.

There are exceptions of course like next week when you have Detroit and Washington back to Back Woll assuming he's healthy gets Washington.

But 95% of the time the #1 goalie should get the divisional games.
or play the guy who has been injured so long and trying to make a comeback away from home against a weaker team mayhaps?

Wouldn't it be something if he pitched a shutout and got a few more games and locked the doors? The board in here would explode with trade scenarios starting with "Since Murray is back..." lol
with our luck and injured goalies, I would run 3 goalies and fire Kampf into the sun.

If we play well, we can take the fans out of the game."

Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff on the Maple Leafs support in Buffalo 😅
I think Ruff is a decent enough coach, but man, it must be hard coaching the buffalos.

Hildeby has sucked in the NHL and hasn't been much better in the A

Murray has been great in the A in a small sample size. He's injury prone, but I'm sure he can play 3-4 games. Or did I just jinx him? LOL.

You just seemed to think using a team's worst goaltender was unusual.

There is no starter playing 82 games, additionally when the best goaltender goes down to injury the back-up isn't going to play every game for two months.

I still not understand the goal of it...

That would make sense if :

1- they would have 3 of best best goalie injured
or
2- Your goalie struggle and having nothing to lose to try someone else

and none of 2 are the case so....

Hildeby was not looking pretty good in NHL and looking worst than Murray and Akhtyamov in AHL.

Its just 100% nor al than Murray get the start

so again i don't understand the goal of your post or what you're really trying to say...its pretty unclear

Pulling for Murray. He’s battled back and took a chance with the Leafs. This his moment. If he plays well we will probably lose him on waivers when Stolarz is back, but we’re talking a month of intense schedule. If he plays well tonight and going forward, he’ll gat a chance with another club while having provided veteran experience through the injury.

I love this quote from Ruff. He knows the crowd will be 60% Leafs fans.

Yeah. Worry in April though

Wouldn’t mind shutting him down until March if that’s what it takes for 100% healthy for the playoff
