Leafs Record by Month Last 5 Years

It's shocking (scary?) how similar we are:

Oct=6-4-1 .591 vs 5 yr .551 avg
Nov=8-3-1 .708 vs 5 yr .774 avg
Dec = 9-6 .600 vs 5 yr .617 avg
Jan = 7-6 .538 vs 5 yr .698 avg
Feb = 7-1 .875 vs 5 yr .711 avg
Mar = 8-5-2 .600 vs 5 yr .580 avg!

For all the reasons we've said this team is different, it is insane how close our performances are next to these months in the last 5 years before.

I mean, that is so close as to be practically statistically identical.

This last little run of 8-1-1 including 2 wins here in April now, has saved our March.. let's hope it continues into the playoffs.

I think December feels worse because November is usually where they dominate and go on a win streak, and then they fall back down to earth.

I'm surprised by February though. Last season in particular Feb/March felt rough.
Morgan Rielly got suspended sometime last February, and the Leafs proceeded to win every single game while he was out.

It kind of makes me wish hed do dumb shit more often.

Well....... here it is, yall..
A full season of months that measured like this, against our last 5 years of these months:

Oct=6-4-1 .591 vs 5 yr .551 avg
Nov=8-3-1 .708 vs 5 yr .774 avg
Dec = 9-6 .600 vs 5 yr .617 avg
Jan = 7-6 .538 vs 5 yr .698 avg
Feb = 7-1 .875 vs 5 yr .711 avg
Mar = 8-5-2 .600 vs 5 yr .580 avg
Apr = 7-1 .875 vs 5 yr .717 avg

That is absolutely an elite-level finish uncharacteristic of this core over the last 5 years, before this. Started out underperforming the five year average and then BOOM in February - and April too!

Biggest reasons for the change in fight down the stretch?:
Core growing up
Stollie
Tanev
Coach
Role players
Knies = Beast
D as a whole!

But what this all really tells me, is that we are a little bit different this year than in years past, after all. What looked like a work in progress all year, now looks like a work of art.

22-7-2 since FEB 1 - not sure we've ever seen this team finish that strong in the cap era.

Bunch a beauties..

And every year people still freak out about October hockey, it’s so irrelevant.
