1.8 billion seems cheap afterall MLSE makes money, Leafs alone have an operating income of 68,000,000 million per year. Compared to teams asking 200 million, that lose 20 plus million a year. Not surprising. At $1.8B Morgan Stanleys' going to have to find someone (or a group) willing to pay the ego-premium. At that price its' simply not an attractive investment for the usually rational & relatively conservative private equity firms with the actual wherewithal to even pay it in the first place if they ever felt so inclined, which they dont. Next?.
All in all there are very few people that can raise that much money. Maybe they have to break it up. Arena, Leafs, NBA Team, MLS Team, AHL team.
Don't forget Killion, the owner of MLSE can get 500 million back just for allowing another team in the neighbourhood.
