Tavares never should have started that PP after getting his bell wrung like that.
That was brutal.

We need to keep Grebenkin in the lineup. He's clearly ready. He looks like he flourishes in a physical game and we need players like like him in the playoffs sooner than later. His personality and his energy/grit is what this team needs too. He's a throwback NHLer.

Hmm..

Those that believe the Leafs don't miss Matthews.

9 games. 9 even strength goals.

Wonder if the could use the leading even strength goal acorer over the past 9 years. Who also plays a 200 ft game?

I like Matthews as much as the next guy but he doesn't play a 200 ft game.
That is by far the biggest myth in the NHL

We can’t score… that’s my issue

This is a bottom 10 team in terms of defence and goaltending and they look like last years team

Matthews
Knies
Domi
Jarnkrok
Reaves
Patches
Kampf

That's 7 forwards out of the lineup of course we can't f***ing score.

And no this is not a bottom 10 team in terms of defense and goaltending.

Coming into tonight Woll was 8th in save% Stolarz was 1st.

What are you talking about

I don’t think we can comeback from this. Sorry to be a pessimist.

He’s talking abt florida

But they’re the defending champs so those numbers don’t mean that much, unless you think they won’t make the playoffs. Fat chance.

I would argue he does but it won't change your opinion so I don't see the point.

If we look at offense only, the Leafs do miss him.

the issue was there even with them in it. they need to upgrade the offence. luckily, i think the GM knows that

If you’re paying the right guys it shouldn’t be a problem.

Unfortunately our combination wasn’t the right one. Especially considering Dubas backed up the money truck too soon and set a precedent for how the franchise assesses value on players

Tavares expiring presents an interesting situation. Marner as well

Unfortunately with the landscape of how the team is built, they can’t afford to bungle contracts to bottom line players (Reaves, Kampf) especially when you know they’re not going to reliably produce for you.
Problem is, it's impossible to build the bottom 6 we want on minimum wage players.

Other teams value their bottom 6 in a way that we haven't for years. So guys in FA that can score a bit and a big bodied, not slow as snails and can look after themselves, don't sign for $1 mil.

What we need and want from our bottom 6 isn't available with the budget we have set out for them.

I don't think they have been healthy from game 1even when they were in.

Domi for example does not go 12 games without a point if he's healthy he's a much MUCH better player then that.

Matthews didn't look right from game 1.

A healthy Jarnkrok can get you 15+ goals,

I think he needs some time in the A. he's still a bit choppy and unpolished
But you can tell, he gets the game and has the physique/skill for it

McMann has not returned

Arrrgg.... It's going to be one of those years isnt' it?
