I never post in these threads but I feel that for once I have something to say. Games like this, these are games that the old leafs would have blown. I think back to three seasons ago When we spent the whole year chasing Florida and then we had that game in March where they had the big third period comeback. If we could have held on to that game it could have been a much different race down the stretch. In the end it wasn't close, but it would have been close if that game went the way it should have gone. And over the past 5 or 6 years whenever we're chasing Boston it seems that when we have a key regular season game against them, where a win could really turn the tables in our favor, we always seem to blow that game.

If these are really the new Toronto Maple Leafs, they will go into Florida and sweep these next two games in regulation like bosses. And completely assert their dominance over their new pair of bitches from the sunshine state. There's a golden opportunity here to make a huge statement, while also taking a massive lead in the divisional standings, one that will be safe for weeks to come.

I think Leafs have a decent chance tonight.

I expect the goaltending and defence to continue to be pretty damn good.

We'll need some secondary scoring and stay out of the box.

Let Florida sink themselves.
When was the last time you saw this defence give up a breakaway? They’ve been outstanding. Our goaltending has been good, but our defence has helped them to look good.

I would be all in on this statement with you if we had Matthews and a relatively healthy roster.

The fact we have the health issues we have makes this more challenging, but what an amazing statement game it would be if they showed up and delivered a sound ass-kicking to the occupants of Florida?

it would be nice to win this game and create seperation from florida, drop the next two and we go right back into the mix of fighting it out for 2/3 seed.

it's going to be tough, hoping stolarz doesn't get cold/rusty with how little he has played recently

With the diminished lineup they will always have trouble generating offense, except for Marner and Nylander.
It will come down to goaltending and defense as it has since Matthews left.

I am not clamouring for any of the injured guys to return, except for Knies and Matthews. I love what our call ups have done. I don't see why they can't get it done again tonight.
It would be nice to get Knies back but Matthews meh. We can almost be assured that Berube with stick him with Marner and there goes all Marners good work as he will revert back to deferring everything to Matthews.
