We need a trade not because of the injuries (well, that too) but primarily because even with more ice time, PP time and greater responsibility nobody outside of the stars, and Bobby McMann, can score a goal.

Over the past 8 games here are the Leafs's scorers:

Marner (8)
Nylander (4)
Tavares (4)
McMann (3)
Timmins (1)
Knies (1)
Minten (1)
Holmberg (1) (EN)

Also to note, our blueline has produced 1 goal in November which doesn't help either.

You can't trade for a guy cause you'll need to trade/waive bodies when they start coming back from IR. We've banked a lot of points, we just need to hang on another couple of weeks.

No long term cap space.

Relax. Barring some drastic shift and the second coming of Dave Keon, the team will lose in the first round and you will get the same gang back for another run. The ice is going to become much smaller in a couple of months.

"We can and we will."

In all seriousness. Anything that comes in is going to require something going out unless Leafs want to part with blue chip prospects to win an extra game or two in the regular season.

And let be clear it has nothing to do with the loss tonight that's fine I saw that coming we all did You can't have over half your forward group be Marlies and expect to beat the Panthers.

And that's the point.

Matthews
Knies
Domi,
Jarnkork
Patches
Kampf
Reaves
McMann?
Nylander suspension?

That's 7 guys injured or suspended

Another one potentially injured

And another potential suspension.

Now even if You get Matthews and Knies back on Saturday and it does looks that way that's still as many as 7 guys out of the lineup.

They have already called up Minten, Grebs, Steeves, A Nylander there is nobody left to call up.

we are at the point where you have to think a trade is coming just to get a body in here.
We don't need to make a trade, based on current injuries.

We've done very well, even with half of our forwards, and the suggestion we need to now, is another panic thread, which isn't exactly an uncommon occurrence .

I do believe we need another C though, and I'd prefer we make such a move sooner that the deadline...but this premise is yet another panic thread.

I disagree that the Leafs need to make a trade right now. How else are you going to evaluate what we have on the Marlies by not giving them opportunities? Alex Steeves is now in a position to either put up or shut up. Do the Leafs move on from Robertson after this season? Well he is now getting his opportunity to prove he belongs. Time to sink or swim. Leafs are in a good position right now, a trade at this point will only be a move for the sake of making one. Injuries happen and the team needs to know if the players on the farm can be relied upon when needed.

Robertson has had his chance he has sank.

Minten , Robertson , Kampf

To Calgary for Kadri and filler.

Thoughts 💭

1. It appears Calgary won't deal with Tre.
2. Cap hit doesn't work without 50% retention.
3. It's highly improbable the Leafs would trade for Kadri with Shanahan at the helm.
