Leafs need to make a trade.

And let be clear it has nothing to do with the loss tonight that's fine I saw that coming we all did You can't have over half your forward group be Marlies and expect to beat the Panthers.

And that's the point.

Matthews
Knies
Domi,
Jarnkork
Patches
Kampf
Reaves
McMann?
Nylander suspension?

That's 7 guys injured or suspended

Another one potentially injured

And another potential suspension.

Now even if You get Matthews and Knies back on Saturday and it does looks that way that's still as many as 7 guys out of the lineup.

They have already called up Minten, Grebs, Steeves, A Nylander there is nobody left to call up.

we are at the point where you have to think a trade is coming just to get a body in here.

You can't trade from weakness. So no. Leafs are first in the Atlantic. It's not like the season is in threat of getting away from them.

Relax.

You trade when it makes sense and not from a position of weakness.

It’s a long season and we will get guys back.

We are not desperate and we’re rolling extremely well before last night, that put us in a position of strength to trade.

You wait for the right deal to come along and move on it when it does.

Our needs don’t change because of our current situating no need to complicate already complicated roster decisions when guys start to come back.

We need more Centre depth and last night doesn’t change that need.

Hopefully we get healthy and can make good roster decisions to get stronger.

In the interim, let the Marlie guys get some experience, show what they’ve got, and make some bank while having their time with the big team I.e. make paycheque!!

some of them but guys like Patches and Jarnkork? Who knows, Domi probably does eventually but who knows when.

Even with Matthews and Knies back there are A LOT of holes up front.

Even healthy I would suggest the team needs a center.

Right now they are the furthest thing from healthy.

No
I'd imagine we'll target a forward or two at the deadline.

Trades rarely occur in the NHL.

When was the last time this team made a trade of significance?

They're too safe in their loser mentality of just making the playoffs. Treliving will continue tinkering around the edges as a result. So long as Shanahan remains in charge that's all Treliving will be allowed to do anyway.

Anybody hoping one of the core four or Rielly is moved are dreaming.

There's not gonna be a trade. Not one that will significantly improve this team's chances at winning a cup. History has a tendency to repeat itself and the best indicator of future behaviour is past behaviour.

So there's no reason to believe they'll do anything other than ride and die with what they've got.

It's what they've done every other year. Why would anything be different this season. A few injuries to mostly insignificant players doesn't change anything.

Keep winning in November every year is all that matters.

They have a few holes and time to fill them but they have to be careful not to create more.
They’ll make the playoffs this year and should be trying to build the roster to contend next year before the team ages out.

I'm suggesting trading a draft pick for a body.
No.

Who is suggesting a core trade? I'm talking about just bringing in a body because they have no forwards left

That isn't happening either is my guess.

They'll likely just continue to promote from within. Most of the guys out right now aren't players of importance anyway. They're mainly just depth players who can be replaced by an AHL plug.

Not that life is fair, and this is professional sports, but I don't particularly like the thought of them bringing in someone and blocking the remaining tweeners from getting a few games in the NHL either.

Keep rolling out the plugs instead of wasting picks on different plugs.
It's only been one loss.

I don't really see the need. Matthews and Knies will be back on Saturday, and the rest of the injured guys are not overly consequential.

It's not about the loss, like I said I saw that coming, everybody did.

It's about not having enough players, they are at the point that I'm not even sure who the next call up would be if McMann is hurt.

there are "non-plugs" available, don't think Treliving has the guts to get them.
David Jiricek is available, and would be game changing.
Gladly give up Cowan and stuff to get him.
But it won't happen.
Treliving is happy with Hakkanpaa!!!

Why are you worrying about Patches and Jarnkrok when the Leafs haven't had them all year (or most of the year in the case of Patches) and are first in the division?
