Still moves to be made but we are not better today than we were yesterday.

Leafs fans will be watching Regina Pats’ games in the new year.
Yeah, when their games don't conflict with the Leaf games. I watch a lot of hockey. I am going to start with the Hlinka and end with the Stanley Cup. The more Leaf games the better.

Interesting theory since they hit record regular season points.
We hit peak Matthews Marner Nylander and started on declining JT. The regular season doesn't mean a lot really. The team itself is going to spring more leaks and regress now because worse quality support players as cap evaporates.

For a Canadian team in a high tax / cost of living City, There wont be TB style sweetheart deals on the core. We're not totally cooked but we are pretty close and that past two seasons were the Leafs best shots at it.

I honestly think they are looking to sign 2 forwards around 2.5m total together per year, whom are going to take pay cuts and then they'll trade Kerfoot for a pick. I'm not sure this is realistic.

Not jumping on the overpay bandwagon for free agent forwards is just fine by me. Plenty of names are still out there. The team that spends the most money doesn't always spend it on the smartest way.

The Wilds GM had some good quotes today along those lines

welp its only july 13 still lots of time till camp, doubt this is the team, thinking more moves will transpire

Losing Spezza, Mikheyev and Kase reduced the team by 46 goals and 86 points from their bottom 6 forwards last year and Leafs are always looking for more offense from the bottom 6.

Looks like the Leafs still have a lot of work to do to address that with only Aubé-Kubel, Gaudette and the return of Denis Malgin the current adds and the last 2 might be depth/Marlies.

The still need to re-sign Engvall and on D Sandin so the cap space is limited.

Seems more like a trade or 2 are coming to build up the roster and even replacing the lost player at par.

We're not supposed to believe what GMs say. The adage of "what do you expect them to say" always get brought up.

Malgin, Samsonov, Aube-Kubel, Guadette...

This is the worst free agency day in history.

How can leaf fans stand behind this?

These signings only cover the goaltending (God help us), and one 4th line position. Dubas is far from doing something to improve the team.

"relax guys it's only preseason"

Wait it's not even that.

Why are we panicking?

Nothing matters outside of game 7 which will happen when June 2023?

That's all I care for next year. The leafs will make the playoffs, very certain that'll it will go to game 7. Can this team find a way to beat their demons and put down a rival

That's what I want to know next year. I have no issues with our moved becuase they don't matter.

Upside/downside will be put on hold until the outcome of round 1.

We are not missing the playoffs and like 95% sure we won't be a wildcard team.

Let's hope these guys are the right mix and our goaltending is clutch enough to slay our demons and then go onto have a 2011 VAN run with a better ending

We might end up relying on guys like Robertson/Abruzzese/Steeves/Holmberg/Anderson/Douglas to take the next jump. It's high risk - like our goaltending situation - but can still work out in our favor. We wont know what we have in these guys if we fill our roster with free agents.

Ideally, we'd get another center and a top 9 winger but Dubas will have to do some cap magic to make it work.

This team got significantly worse on paper.

Can't imagine Matthews or Marner being happy with the moves being made. We're just wasting their years in Toronto.

Giving that horrendous contract to JT was the TSN turning point of this team IMO. Either that or the Kadri trade.
Well they didn't exactly take discounts to be here, they had to have known that would affect the depth.

People haven’t realized this by now? They are trading Sandin.
