I used to really like this video, but now I can't stand it. The problems I have against this video are its effects motivationally, and in terms of success.
First of all, I like ET, he gives a lot of other speeches I like. But this one is mad overrated.
1) Motivation. Literally, 99% of this video talks about wanting it. I want a big house and a car, and I don't just "kinda" want them, I really want them. That doesn't mean that is just going to happen. I know the point he is trying to convey is that you only get to a level when you want to get to that level. Which is true. But it takes a lot more than just willingness to get to there. I hate people who watch this video and go into the comments and say "Tomorrow is a new day for me!". I HATE that saying. Why not today? Why not now? If something is so damn motivating for you, get up and go get it. The only thing motivating about that video is when he talked about Beyonce being on set for 3 days without eating. That's determination. When you're motivated you just do it. No questions asked.
2) Success. Success doesn't happen because of one occurance. So because his head was dipped that means he's going to be lifting weights 5 times a week? People watch that video and what are they inspired by? The speech? Or the people working out? It's taken them their whole lives to get to that level of fitness and people easily get discouraged when they aren't there in a WEEK. If you watch part two you'll see that it followers a former NCAA running back (undrafted, pretty sure he isn't on a team) and he's wakes up every day at 5 and trains till sunset, just to get a chance to make a team. The biggest key to being successful is know how important time is. He hardly ever talks about it. People who get motivated by that speech hardly continue on after a week. The problem I hate about that speech, and why I like the second one better is because it should talk about the sacrifices that it takes to become successful. If you watch the whole speech in which he delivered the part for the video, he does talk about time management. I have no idea why it's cut out. He goes on to say something along the lines of: You sleep for 8 hours, you go to work or school for 8 hours, and you eat for an hour. So you only have (24-17) 7 hours that day to be successful. If you draw motivation from that video, use those 7 hours wisely.
Motivation should be drawn from anything. I'm glad you found motivation from that video, and maybe you should check this one out.
It was given 8 weeks before he passed away from cancer. People were expecting him to just say a quick thanks, but he went on to give an amazing speech. He could hardly walk at the time.
