Thought there'd be more venting. No one gets mad anymore ?
A lot of us just over seeing the same things over and over

It wasn’t really that soft playing Boston and Ottawa, and a B2B with Detroit and TTOE.With a soft schedule like that, I would think they'd be hoping for 7 or 8 points.
I just had a quick peek at the standings, our 4 opponents are currently 15th, 17th, 23rd and 32nd overall (by PTS% of course). Seems like a pretty soft stretch to me.It wasn’t really that soft playing Boston and Ottawa, and a B2B with Detroit and TTOE.
I’m sure they were hoping for 8, just like they’re hoping 12 in the remaking 6 games this month.
This. I mean I suppose the people that thought a new coach would magically transform this bunch into something completely different, would be surprised and disappointed. I was always skeptical in this regard though so yup, it's just same old, same old.A lot of us just over seeing the same things over and over

We'll see what happens in the playoffs, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised. There's always the chance a goalie gets hot etc. though I seem to remember Andersen putting up a .936 SV% one time and we still got "outgoalied". We are the masters of getting "outgoalied", seems to be our specialty. That and losing game 7's of course ...
I don’t think it’s realistic for even the best teams to win every game. 6 of 8 is good.I just had a quick peek at the standings, our 4 opponents are currently 15th, 17th, 23rd and 32nd overall (by PTS% of course). Seems like a pretty soft stretch to me.
Pretty wild that we go 227 games without being shutout, and then we get shutout twice in 17 games under Berube.
Go whine somewhere else, wtf are you doing here? Lurk silently, troll.Nobody on the Sens board made that comment… if they did I’d point out that Dean Brown, the Sens radio guy, is equally terrible to Joe Bowen. They even look alike.
I thought that might have been the situation. Thanks for both the clarification and the correction.I didn't see the game, I was merely correcting the other poster's horrendous abuse of the English language when he said Willy was the result of two goals.
Exactly. I've never been one to blame the goalies. IIRC we scored a total of 2 goals in a three year span of losing game 7's. Spend all the money on forwards who can't score, that's where most of the the blame should go. JMHO.Hot goaltending is nice, but we aren't winning anything if we can only score 1 goal. Which always is why we lose, can't score unless we start running around and then we let in goals.
I'm just frustrated seeing us pay so much up front for offense and then being the 18th best offensive team in the league. I get it is the system, but our salary structure does not match the vision of the GM or coach with how they want to play.
It's not bad, I just thought that hoping for 5 or 6 points was setting the bar too low and the schedule was soft. 6 minimum IMO though whatever, not a big deal.I don’t think it’s realistic for even the best teams to win every game. 6 of 8 is good.
Other than the fact that the word you are looking for is 'cause' rather than 'result', I don't understand. I somewhat agree with the first one that was a bad dump-in that hit McMann's skate, but how was he the cause of the other? McCabe missed the net, Willy went after it and never touched it, and McCabe missed the clearing dump. At that point Willy was the farthest from the puck.Goaltending still over .900 tonight which is unbelievable tbh. Stolarz had no support tn. Willy was the direct result of two goals against which sometimes he just has these games.
The issue is that the coach doesn't know how to get the most out of his 6-9 players in the forward group.. i.e Robertson, Domi, McMannCap increase plus went to 34 and 88. Sammy money plus went to Stolarz. Brodie + Bert money went to D and Domi. No surprise the bottom 6 is a black hole.
Without Matty, stay out of the box and you will beat this lot.
They may be able to understand it, but they can't do anything about it until next summer.Yup and still some can’t understand that….including Shanny and the new boss
Yup. That game was a perfect example of why I will never buy Leaf tickets again. The prices are ridiculous to begin with, and when you factor in the chances of a stinker like that happening ... I just refuse to be ripped off like that. If they started a policy of issuing refunds after games like that it would be different but as it is, fuggedaboudit.
We scored 4 goals in the 3 game 7s we played over the last four years. Two by Nylander, none by Matthews, Marner, or Tavares.Exactly. I've never been one to blame the goalies. IIRC we scored a total of 2 goals in a three year span of losing game 7's. Spend all the money on forwards who can't score, that's where most of the the blame should go. JMHO.
Apathy. Does any of this really matter that much right now? Not really, we all expect to make the playoffs, I hope we all still expect a little bit of up and down with Berube as it's early (like him or not), and at the end of the day, it's about what happens in the post season.Thought there'd be more venting. No one gets mad anymore ?
I wonder if they just aren't that worried about the offense at the moment. We are still second in the division, and re-learning how to play. Most nights lately, we've been far better defensively, and overall better in the style we play. There will be relapses of course, like last night. The issue is that the coach doesn't know how to get the most out of his 6-9 players in the forward group.. i.e Robertson, Domi, McMann
Robertson will score 25+ goals playing with Nylander and a playmaking C, but instead we play him in a 3rd line checking role or with Tavares who's a cycle first C.
Domi will put up big assist numbers playing with Matthews, but instead we put him at 3C which is where he isn't useful, and outright bad.
Marner is better away from Matthews, but for most of the season he's playing with Matthews.
The lines have been f***ed up most of the year.
The only good combo the coach has found is Pacioretty and Tavares, and maybe Domi-Nylander, but that didn't last long.
We have so much talent but the coach doesn't know how to channel it.
This is exactly it, IMO.I wonder if they just aren't that worried about the offense at the moment. We are still second in the division, and re-learning how to play. Most nights lately, we've been far better defensively, and overall better in the style we play. There will be relapses of course, like last night.
However, I wonder if the focus is on playing defensively first... and worry about the offense, and lines later.
Maybe. But wasn't the defense absolutely horrible last night?I wonder if they just aren't that worried about the offense at the moment. You highlighted the wrong sentence.Maybe. But wasn't the defense absolutely horrible last night?
