Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose to Minnesota and end January with a whimper

Ok - you are really getting on my nerves. For a couple weeks now. Here are the Caps numbers with empty nets this season.

Please find someone else to bullshit.

Use some real stats.

Ovechkin has 5 empty netters this season, yet the Caps as a team only scored 1? Did he score empty net goals in the KHL while he was injured?

Anyway, the real stats are that the Caps have scored 16 empty net goals so far this season.

Please find someone else to bullshit.

It looks to me like he's just got the wrong side - that looks like the stats when the Caps have pulled their goalie.

That was my fault - used the wrong side. Leafs and Caps below. Both have 16 empty netters so Leafs must have pretty good goaltending too, wouldn't you say?

Yeah, probably helps to have the health the Caps had versus the Leafs.

Leafs were missing a 13.5M player and currently an 11M player. Team hasn't been healthy all year. They're currently missing 3 of their top 6, nearly half of their forwards throughout the season - but sure, let's look at the cap hits of the injured players and blame them too.

Where do you think the Caps are with their top 2 centres both injured during the season? I assume it would be reasonable to suspect they score less goals and not more?

Usuakktkykykykykkykykykykykthe. Thehehe. The leafs offense rolls in the season and stalls in the llayoffs

iPhone keyboard iis so bad worse of all time

There's been few times this year in general where I can look at the goalie and say he didn't give us a save. Generating offence is the biggest issue
Surprisingly, defence has actually been the biggest issue. We have the 22nd best defensive results in the league. Offense has also been an issue, as we've dropped to 13th in goals and 11th in chance generation. We've gotten the 7th best goaltending though, which is really keeping us in there.

They showed a interesting stat during the game yesterday, that Leafs have 4 players making $46 mil and because of that cap heavy spending they also have 7 forwards that have played at least 25 games and all have 5 goals or less on the season.
Leafs also have the lowest scoring defense core in the NHL.
Leafs Dmen have combined for just 11 goals in 51 games.
That's not because of cap. That just sounds like we need Treliving to be better at finding depth, balancing his defence core, and getting a coach that isn't stuck in the 1960s.
