Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose 5-4 in OT | Lead series 2-1

Agree with a lot of your post. But Matthews has another level in him still. He is most certainly injured and fully expecting an announcement of off-season surgery once the playoffs are done.

Coming from someone who has hated on Marner for the last two years, he has impressed me this playoffs. And if Marner can elevate his game as he has, Matthews can too.
This year at least, I dont think he has it in him.

If he did, we would have seen some sign of it by now.

You guys are what’s wrong with this fan base. The most bipolar f***s off of one loss. Nylander has been unbelievable this post season and woll has stolen us multiple games before. Just multiple bad puck bounces trying to block shots. WE ARE UP 2-1. On to the next. f*** man. Simmer down.
We'll simmer the f*** down once we win dude. Stop acting like these players are above criticism because they won two f***ing games.

Not only the goal scoring. I don’t think we have seen the patented stick lift all post season either. Never seen a player steal so many pucks by lifting the opponent stick. Something is wrong with him. We may never know because he is so secretive about his health.

I've said this once before and I'll say it again. Matthews' shot still has zip. That says to me his wrist and his back, while they may not be 100 per cent, don't appear to be causing the issue. The problem is...he's not picking his spots anymore. It's either into the goalie, wide, or over top. That says to me it's a vision thing. Remember a while back their was a Blue Jays player (can't remember who) who couldn't figure out why he wasn't picking up the ball out of the pitchers hand? He went and had his eyes checked and was shocked his vision needed correction. Seems simple, but sometimes, something as subtle as a little blurriness that maybe you just chalk up to being tired or sore turns out to be something much more. This is assuming, of course, that he doesn't wear glasses or contacts already. I've never seen a picture of him with any eyewear so I assume he doesn't wear them, Maybe he needs to change his prescription if that's the case...'cause whatever he's got now ain't working.

There is a reason they call him McJesus He is simply head and shoulders above everyone. Not just 34. But it would have been great for 34 to have a moment tonight.

After their Entry Level Contracts, Matthews will make 97.95 million after 8 seasons (2.05 million less than McDavid after 8 seasons)

I might be crazy, but it feels like something that's affecting his cardio. The energy isn't there. Obviously Barkov is insane, but same issue round 1. Watching him a few years ago to now, it's night and day....

We have to acquiesce to the fact that Matthews just isn’t the guy. Win or lose, superstars at least make an impact on the scoresheet.
Agreed. But an explanation why he isn't the guy would be helpful in accepting that fact. I realize that they aren't going to say he's injured during the playoffs, but this has been going on all season and the media refuses to A) make an issue of it. B) Even though he can't shoot, why can't he grab the game by the throat and assert his will?

I respectfully disagree.

He's not picking the spots because something is likely wrong. For me, when it comes to Matthews, this is "ZIP" on his shot.

We're not seeing anything like this now. He's passing and deferring shots quite often now, and seemingly the only logical reason is that he's hurt.

Are you serious? Florida lost 2 games and their boards were talking about how it was a great championship era and how they got to experience it in their lifetimes.

Danny Jansen.

The good news, though, is that you could see some flashes of the old Matthews in OT. He let some wicked wristers go. Now do it in regulation, please!

f*** YOU Wes McCaully you piece of shit

Leafs are now 0-10 when this piece of shit refs Leafs playoff game
We've got to cut out this loser mentality right here.

McCauley is David Frost's brother in law. Show of hands, who's so close to their brother in law that they would violate their integrity over it?

Secondly, the supposed grudge against Sheldon Keefe was an insane theory to begin with, considering Keefe testified in favor of Frost at Frost's trial.

Lastly, Keefe is no longer employed by the leafs after being shitcanned last fall. If he actually hated Keefe, wouldn't he be happy with the organization that showed him the door?

We really need to get over this stupid theory.

I don't know what's more stupid, the idea that a ref has a grudge against a team that used to employ a coach that was buds with his brother in law, the idea that the director of hockey ops favors a team his son played for 15 years ago, or that the guy in charge of player discipline has a grudge against a team just because that was the jersey a player was wearing when they K.O'd him 11 years ago, despite the fight not ending his career, or even season.

All of the above is absolute loser behavior. Grasping at straws for excuses. Be better! (I don't just mean you)

Remind me - what Division has had teams in the Stanley Cup Final round 7 out of the last 6 seasons?
Who do the Leafs play just about every single playoff series against?

It's almost as if comparing the performance of players who never face the same competition is flawed or something.
What are you talking about? 3 of the last 6 years they played LOL Montreal, lost to Columbus and last year lost to the Bruins who promptly lost in Round 2. The Oilers have played every cup winner the last 3 years, including last year where they were 1 goal away from winning game 7. McDavid had 10 points in that series alone and won the Conn Smythe.

Are you seriously trying to compare Matthews to McDavid? Just stop, you look like a fool.

This 100%. I had the same experience in my mid-20s: put on my girlfriends glasses as a joke and was floored how much clearer the world was. It was like going from 720 to 4K. I was shocked.

Someone please check Matty's vision.

Woll looked better in OT. But some of the earlier goals were pretty soft. I feel like they were pretty deflating for a team that came out strong and looked like they wanted to make a statement. Overall it could be worse, we were in it until the end and still have a series lead. Let’s move on and hope for the best. JT scoring two was a welcome surprise.

Rielly single handedly killed our momentum when we were up 3 - 0, and then the final goal.

Matt Murray played really well in the A. I'd hate to see him but he might surprise.

You could make the case now that Wes MacAuley would want the Leafs to win now to shove it back in Sheldon Keefes face.

I dunno, something's got to explain how the Leafs became the only team in the NHL to have their opponents take no suspensions for a decade, and even now I think the total is 2... Maybe?

Parros pretty clearly has an issue with this franchise. No other franchise is even close.

And honestly, that second goal, which was some of the most blatant goalie interference I've ever seen in a game, that was McCauley not blowing the whistle. You gonna tell me he had complete sight of the puck that whole time?
