For the life of me I can't understand why the media isn't all over this. He's had two seasons where he scored 60+ and now looks like a shadow of himself. Morgan Reilly has as many goals in the playoffs as he does. SUre his defence is good and his faceoff % is great, but the difference between Matthews a few years ago and now is stunning and few people are asking why. Is he injured? Maybe. Will they ever say that? No. Nevertheless, I can't believe he's not getting more scrutiny from the Toronto media.

Because we are winning. It makes this a non-story.

That's the truth my friend. But it's coming and it won't be pretty. He didn't even have to do much, just....I dunno....SCORE A GOAL?

You should grip the stick a little harder, or softer. But do something. 69 goals in the regular season is great. Having a D have as many goals as you in the post season...IS NOT.

Huge missed opportunity. Up 2-0 and 3-1. Had our chances on ot. It’ll be fine if they win the next one.

Woll is not a saviour like some said, he is prone to some weak goals a game. I don't blame him on the own goals, but the 3-4 back breaker is stuff that just kills teams, especially after controversial 3-2 goal by them.

Clear issues are as follows:

1. Rielly-Carlo pairing got caved in, Rielly had "unlucky" plays.

2. McMann is an absolute PASSENGER on any line he plays on, its remarkable how ineffective he has been, what do we do?

3. And the big one... AUSTON, MY BOY, where is your shot? Where is the goals? You can only play lights out defensively when we are guaranteed 3 or more goals with Woll in net....

It was a close one guys, lets breathe a bit, but know we GOT to hammer it down come Sunday.

1. Carlo was never good against Florida in his career and it really shows after tonight's game.

2. I would dress Nick Robertson and sit McMann if I'm Berube.

3. Matthews is scoreless against Florida in 8 career playoff games plus OTs. But hey, there are people out there still arguing that he is playing great.

Lots of odd bounces. Love 88 but it’s going to be hard for him to watch back the last 30 seconds in OT. Yikes. I think I am more worried about 34’s lack of opportunities more than anything. It’s one thing to not score but he hardly ever has high danger scoring chances. It’s like it has disappeared.


Still up 2-1. Need a statement game Sunday. Tomorrow morning will suck a little harder.

I don't think Robertson can play in this series. Against Florida, first and foremost, you have to be good on the walls.

We're scoring enough goals, that's not an issue.

to me it looked like Panthers were trying to finish all their checks high. Like head shot high. Rodrigues jumped a foot off the ice on 91. But you could see it all over the ice.

People are focusing on the 2-goal lead, and yeah I'd be great if that wasn't blown, but (A) Lots of teams are blowing leads like that in these playoffs. No lead is safe; and (B) We probably didn't deserve the 2-goal lead in the first place.

The Leafs came out strong, yes, but Florida was also standing still. The Panthers weren't ready to play at all. Once they got their feet under them, they took over. It was the Leafs who were not strong defensively all night, they were struggling to move through the neutral zone, they didn't bring their A-game tonight.

Despite that, though, they fought through some bad bounces and a bad goal by Woll to force OT. They dominated the first 10 minutes of OT and then Florida had their push. Sadly they got the bounce.

Overall, this felt like Game 4 against Ottawa: We were the second-best team, still could have won it, and didn't. Sucks, but you're not going to win every game. I'd be much more concerned if next game looks like Game 5 against Ottawa, but until then? Still a decent chance we come back to Toronto up.

Against Ottawa, Florida is a whole different beast, especially when the game is on the line.

at some point you have to point the finger at Matthews for being the guy who is not clutch. 4 nations best on best he was invisible. Great he is playing a 200 foot game and great in his D zone but for $14 mil he needs to take over games

There hasn't been a playoff series where you said even if they lost the series that Matthews was the best player. You can say that about McDavid.
