Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose 5-2

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Even if they finish 1st in the division and face Montreal/Ottawa/CBJ they are still going to lose.

We have all seen that movie before.
Then we get the spiel about how they are a tight knit group who love and have a tremendous believe in each other. "We're right there."

Nobody cares. Effing losers man.

Everyone has a right to post what they want as long as it doesnt break the sites rules

If your annoyed by the negative posts ignore this thread or the posters.

You are enjoying the leafs season and that is fair. A lot of people are not.

More people are not than are by the way this board has been this year.

Its justified for the state of the boards to be the way they are. Past failures, future assets dwindled, core players being unlikable etc

The leafs have to show for once in the past 10 years that they are a serious contender. The practice warmup is almost done.

Playoffs start soon and there will be no where to hide. Deliver or its over sadly for this team
Every team has games like this.
I know the PTSD is strong - I get it, I really do.

I just find the post game stuff just a circle jerk of hate and ignorance.

Have a good night all…

I finally got a chance to catch a game after a long while for once and got disgusted after 2nd period. Yea this team is going nowhere. f***ing pos Mitch Marner needs to go out of this town.

Outside of Covid when is the last time the leafs have been in a legit divisional title race? It sucks they could not take advantage of a win tonight, but they just won 3 straight and had a bad game tonight. Some of the reactions are a tad bit overboard.

I think a lot of the frustration is two fold, 1. Playoff based frustration, 2. The leafs are playing a boring style of hockey (yet they are in the hunt for a division title) and we miss the high octane offensive team

Sorry many of us have more emotion than the players... but it's why we are fans. It's a rollercoaster, the ups, the downs, we are here for them all. Oh, and most of us will be back on Tuesday... with more overreactions! Good and bad ;-)

You are 100% correct about where the frustrations come from, for the most part.

No one here needs to apologize or hold back. Let it fly, it's the only reason this place exists. Blow some steam off... overreact, have a laugh, and get ready for the next one.

I find it comical that many of the so called sane posters, and this is not aimed at you at all, prance in here and claim their maturity and hockey knowledge brilliance, throw some shade to try and make the keyboard hereos feel bad about themselves and then prance back off with their heads held so high.

Come here, read what you want, reply to what you want. Igonore who you want. Don't judge people and have some f***in fun people.

Note, this applies to like 4 people lol

i can live with this loss if you win 3 of the next 4 again because after that we have a tough end to the season (Panthers x2, Tampa, Hurricanes, Canadiens and Blue Jackets fighting for playoff spots)

essentially going 6-2 over the past 8 won't be too bad. but then we need to win at least 5 of the last 8

so win 8 of the last 12 games and i think, depending on who you beat, that should get you first place

It’s the habits more so than the results

From a bunch of crash outs, who have never played the game, or know shit.

We win - 4 pages.
We lose - 15 pages.

Enjoy your shouting and blaming random players and theories.

If fans hate them so much - stop watching. Since the majority have literally no idea what they are watching.
Fans invest time, money, and passion into their team, critiquing poor performance isn’t the same as hating them. If anything, blind loyalty without standards from clueless fans like you is the real problem.

If we make a deep playoff run, no one will remember this game. But when you have a chance to take control of the division and fall flat against a bottom-feeder like Nashville, it’s a cause for concern.

You are incorrectly assuming I’m some blind fan boy. I’m not.

I can’t stand fans who I know, truly know nothing about hockey yelling and screaming about this and that and burying their whipping boys. I work with them, heck, even tonight, I was watching the Leafs in an arena, while watching HL kids prior to them competing for “competitive tryouts”. Some of the hot takes of Leafs fans at the arena were delusional.

It really gets tired. If that doesn’t get me a bunch of “ likes” tonight, I’m ok with it. Just trying to keep it real.

I will re-iterate that the margins between winning and losing in NHL are razor thin. We just won 3 of 4 and its total toxicity. I know tonight sucked, I saw the breakdowns, poor play and adjustments.

I get it, I know the history and I have the scars too. Nor, do I think “this is our year, plan the parade” and all the lazy takes I’m getting back for saying chill out.

Th sad truth is…until the playoffs it really doesn’t matter. Colorado blew a 3 goal lead tonight - should they fold up the tent?

Florida lost to the Caps - should they cancel the season? Can’t compete with elite talent?

Tampa lost to lowly Utah.

It’s 1 of 82. Save the panties in a wad until playoffs. Then, I will join you.

Even more than the overboard reactions I like the bipolar ones.

A couple of days ago the posts were about how great Woll is, and clearly the starter for the playoffs, and some were even saying we should trade Stolarz for a 3C. Tonight he's a minor league goalie (anyone remember Punch and Vachon?) and absolute garbage.

On the 4th goal Marner didn't hustle back very well. If that had been Nylander doing exactly the same (they both do, as do most forwards) there are a few posters who would be looking for blood, and at least one who would bring that play up five years from now (the same way another poster brings up a certain 'puck over the glass' play). Tonight, absolutely nothing in the gdt but a comment that Matty didn't try hard enough.

If a Leafs player picks the top corner with a shot it's a great play and the goalie didn't have a chance. If the other team scores on exactly the same play/shot then our goalie is crap and there's no way he should have let that in.

And don't get me started on the refs....

Pathetic!!! Pathetic!!! Pathetic!!!. Out in the first round in 6. But they will have a "2 zip lead in games".
Matthews is not a leader. Matter of fact none of the core are leaders. And not sure what position Reilly is playing. Certainly not d-man.
I still like the Carlo deal, but play OEL with him. But the other deal, Philly hosed Treliving.
And please enough of Robinson and Holmberg. Hoping they are sitting Patches for the TournamentMight be time for drastic measures to try to salvage this run.
I would start experimenting with Reilly at LW,

Kneiss Matthews Marner (one of the best lines in the league, when they decide to play)
McMahon Taveras Patches ( good tenacity, physical, good wall play)
Homberg Domi Nylander (Holmberg plays well with Willie, and is a dog on a bone worker)
Lorentz Kampf Laughton (I actually do like this line, you could sub in Larnkrok the odd time)

McCabe Tanev
OEL Carlo
Reilly Myers (God bless Benoit, but Myers has more upside)
