Timmins started off surprisingly well, but yeah, I wonder about him at this point.

He doesn't really do anything offensively and isn't physical or particularly hard to play against.

He's Liljegren without the upside. It's looking like they should have kept Timmy instead of Timmins.
Should have been an obvious mistake timmins looks like he’s trying his hardest he’ll improve just based off experience but man we’re gonna regret that lily move especially with hakanpaa 😭😭

I get losing Matthews is gonna hurt, but we still got 3 guys making 11 million dollar towards the cap playing on forward so the offence shouldn't get hurt much. I don't care what anyone says about Matthews being the best goal scorer in the league. They all get paid to produce offence consistently and since they have no problem taking up so much of the cap that also means they need to show up every game.

What happened to Tanev? Missed the game but haven't seen anything about Tanev except on here.
The Leafs are scoring .7 Goals less per game.

Matthews is .6 GPG less than his career, never mind last year.

Nylander is pacing to crush his career high, Marner is on pace for a career high in points. Tavares is having his second best season as a Leaf.

They are pretty much bringing it every night.

Outside that 3 game stretch where the 3rd line was on fire no one else is.

Magic beans have worn off for the 3rd line. Tre needs to acquire another C.

I didn't think they played that bad, it happens. We won some games we didn't deserve to win at all, so I guess it was bound to happen.

Tough to win without your best defenceman, best scorer, and best goalie. Made tougher when Nylander and Marner were invisible. Woll wasn’t to blame but he wasn’t great and he had to be. His rebound control awful. Timmins sucks so bad, we can’t go into the playoffs with this guy.
I was at todays game and at no point in todays loss did i think wolls rebound control sucked...there were problems today. That wasnt one of them if you paid attention

This game wasn't a surprise at all. The results are starting to match the play.

Our loser captain returned and managed deflate all the momentum the team had in his absence and then got bullied and left with another injury.

Having Matthews as your captain instantly undoes any culture changes you try to make within the organization.

I get that they played 3 games in 4 days but man, they are looking very slow lately. Hopefully they can recharge through the holidays cause they're gonna be busy in January.

Merry Christmas boys 🎅🎄
The schedule gets more difficult in terms of quality of opponent as of January 9. They will need to bank some points before then.

How do you get to take a full two handed (base ball style) swing and not get a penalty call?

How is it a good goal when the puck is frozen and gets punched out and the play goes on?

How can you hit someone near the puck square on the numbers in the danger area of the boards and not get a call?
All valid. Refs on Xmas break already..

I did not watch the game, but it looks like the leafs got crushed again. Woll is an absolutely terrible goaltender, Bush league shit.

Marner is another one who needs to **** off. Get the hell out of Toronto with those outrageous contract demands.

I watched the first period and it looked like a spirited start. But I just couldn’t be bothered to waste a day off watching an afternoon game.

Goaltending has dried up too. Bringing Woll without his A game to up against Helly is a knife to a gunfight. But its just a mid season game and not #75. I am annoyed with the club right now but regular season excellence means nothing.

Just finished watching, did not read the thread.

I hope no-one serious, is surprised (other than the people TROLLN)

Take out a team's #1 Center (who is also the best goal scorer in the league), #1 Goalie, Best Defensive Defenceman and have them play the current best team in the League. If you have a brain you just can't be surprised that The Leafs lost this one.

Side Questions and Points...

Agreed the Jets got away with two big ones. If I was a a leaf fan I would be upset about the missed crosscheck (unless the ref thought it was a dive) and the long whistle( usually quick whistles)

Woll's been very inconsistent going back to the Detroit game. The highlight in that stretch is he stood on his head vs Dallas, but was also beat on a few in that game. Right now he's played 7 games in December, has a sub .500 record, GAA over 3.00 and a SV% under .900. Mediocre.

To be fair, there were missed calls on both sides. I almost prefer that over some make up calls and a parade to the box.
