im a CBJ Fan. Toronto was clearly the better team tonight IMO Elvis had a career game. why did you guys pull the goalie on the 4 on 4 with 8 mins left? toronto was clearly dominating the whole game thought that was a weird coaching thought. this would be a fun 1st round match up! GOOD LUCK THE REST OF THE YEAR!

Rielly is cooked. There is no way this team is going deep in the playoffs with Rielly in the top 2-3 . Holy shit he’s fallen off a cliff. Not putting up points, atrocious defending. On the first goal he could’ t have looked more casual. This idea that we gotta find him a partner has to stop. He needs to play better plain and simple. Everyone who plays with him ends up -1, -2 -4 every game. It’s brutal to watch.

Also we gotta get someone to do something in the bottom 6, Domi, Kampf, Holmberg Jarnkrok when he’s healthy are all bums. All bums. I’m not sure how many more years we’re just going to sit back and wait for Matthews and Mitch to save us in the playoffs. At some point the bottom 6 have to produce even a tiny bit.

Thinking a little bit more about Hildeby's game last night. Clearly he isn't ready to handle the NHL, but then I look at the relevance and big picture. We bring up Murray, Stolarz gets healthy, then we have to put Murray on waivers..... and risk losing him.

What is more important, a game or two that Hildeby might cost us, or having Murray available in the playoffs if we need him in an emergency?

With the light schedule coming up they should have started Woll.

Still have no idea why Woll didn’t start..if the Leafs end up giving up the Atlantic division lead to Florida, we’re going to look back at games like last night and think “Why didn’t Woll start” he had a decent stretch, there’s no back to back’s he’s healthy. There’s literally no reason Hildeby had to start

Fantilli bought 70 seats for his friends and relatives. The Leafs wanted to show their appreciation.

Woll has already matched his highest number of games played in the NHL. He isn't known for his durability. The Leafs thought it was best he sit, that the load he's had warranted playing someone else. At this point, better safe than sorry.

Edit... also, what if Woll did start? We still only score one goal, midway through the third... do you think Woll pitches a shutout, or only gives up one goal every game? I doubt the result is any different, no matter who is in net.

Only 4 pages after a 5-1 loss to Columbus and not very toxic shows me the apathy many posters have for this team after year 9 of the same rerun.

incoming three game losing streak to erase the three game winning streak that erased the previous three game losing streak.

Leafs are 30-17-2. You think they are now a .500 team?

Rielly is so bad. Every time there is a goal against, almost always I see Rielly on the ice.

Missed the first 2 periods, so can’t really comment. Just one of those games.

But let’s not kid ourselves, this team hasn’t looked very good for awhile. Every so often, so they play a solid game, but very uneven in general.

@ Sens, Minny and then (4 game) Western Canada road trip, including Seattle before the 4 Nations Faceoff.
Don’t they tend to do well out west?

7-6 would be considered a decent month, but they already have 7 Ws with a great chance at going 8-5. In the last 10 games they’ve gained 1 point on Florida. I think they’re great position to finish atop the Atlantic.

I was only able to watch the first two periods, but from what I saw, the effort was there. PP was terrible once again and Hildeby was outragouisly terrible while his counterpart had one of the best games of his career.

Play that game with the same efforts 100 times and I bet the Leafs in at least 75% of the time.

Disappointed they lost, but hard to complain about the big picture considering the effort, and others near us in the standings also lost.

This is literally one of those flush it an move on kinda games.

Last night they actually played a solid game. Outplayed Columbus by a margin. It was actually the best they've played in a while. Elvis was King, Hildeby wasn't. I'm not blaming Hildeby, we just didn't score. We win more often than not, when we play like we did last night.

They don't win in Calgary and Vancouver very often. 3 wins in their last 20 visits in Vancouver.

I agree, but Burube said that Woll has played alot of emotional games. If that's the case how is he going to be able to play in the playoffs where every game is an emotional game?

I'm ok with being cautious, with a goalie who is injury prone, and has already matched his career high in starts. Woll goes down right now, and we are in trouble. Woll starts last night, we aren't winning anyway, unless you think he might have scored a hat trick.

Did you see him skating back on the first Fantilli SH goal? He very well could be.
I did. I also saw a 10 year NHL career including 40 points in 57 playoff games.

Did you see Hildeby on that shot? All he had to do was stand there, but he dropped down. The reason Toronto has been successful this season is partly due to routine saves being made. That goal was as soft as they come. I'm not saying fire Hildeby, but you're going to blame Rielly for that?

I just think Rielly deserves better than the Aki Berg treatment. He always seems to play better in the post-season making his detractors look foolish. I hope this is the case. Perhaps he's injured or maybe his age is catching up to him.

Some fans are now playing EA GM and healthy scratching Rielly. What? You can't possibly put Timmins, Benoit, and Myers ahead of him.

Treating players like cattle is not cool.

I remember my drunk uncle ranting at a family Christmas gathering about Dave Tiger Williams: "He's a bum, and a bad hockey player." He eventually went on to have a 35 goal season with Vancouver.

Is this just drunk uncle talk?

It was weird phrasing for sure. But it's January, Woll is injury prone, and already matched his career high in games played. I'm ok with them being cautious with him, and using weird phrasing to describe it. We are reading too much into the phrasing. We don't win last night with Woll in net anyway.
