The scoreboard looks much worse than how they played.

Florida had an extra leap in their step tonight, got a Wes McCauley special to help them get an early PP goal, and Stolarz was human.

We managed to stick around, but it was an uphill battle to win this one given our injury troubles.

Just NOT good enough. Sloppy all over the ice.

PP and PK were atrocious once again.

Nylander needs to control his stick.

Thank You Marner for at least breaking the shut out.

I fear Tampa might curb stomp them once again too. Too many injuries, and it's starting to catch up with our Leafs.

Still early in the season and this game shows the gap between the Cup Champ and top contender and our Leafs.

Good lesson for them

The season stops for no one but this game was hardly indicative of where we’re at compared to Florida. Let’s have the Panthers down 7 forwards while we’re mostly healthy and see how that turns out.

tbh i thought the leafs played smack average so it was kind of a boring effort. chalk it up to the missing players finally catching up. It was a little bit like 2 years ago in the playoffs against florida they just buried our mistakes.

If willy get's more than Timo Meier someone should begin a full compilation showing leaf suspensions versus non leaf suspension inconsistency and just blast it all over lol. I also don't want to complain about refereeing but the panthers always get the beneficial whistle for a team that plays as dirty as they do.

Left our seats and sat at the bar 1/2 way through the second.

That call for boarding on back check forecheck paycheck was a complete joke

It seems like you don't understand the nuances of sports.

A team that is riding a high shorthanded that is facing am established team in a lull is a recipe for disaster.

The reason sports betting does so well is because they suck people into the wrong patterns.

Don't bet on any trend in a division game or a rivalry game.

Obviously losing Montour and OEL hurt but Florida wasn't 2 guys away from being terrible.
Sports is a series of thousands of random events. The idea that anyone can predict the outcome of a game is silly. That isn't why sports betting houses do well. They do well because they ensure that enough has been bet on each team to ensure that the house wins more often than not. No different than the way odds are set in any casino game.

Meh, would have been nice to win this one considering Tampa did lose to Washington, but I kind of figured this was coming, I think we all did.

You can't keeps winning the way we have been with over half your forwards out eventually It's going to catch up and it did tonight.

I think the final score makes it looks worse then it was, I think they played well for the most part, I do wish Stolarz had the 1st goal but that's the first time I said that all year so whatever.

The short handed goal is the on I Had a real problem with because short handed goals should literally NEVER happen because You have an extra player

Oh well, burn the tape and move on.

This has been a good opportunity to see what we have in some of our young players.

Usually we get too many vets and our young players don't get good looks. Also gives them some NHL taste and prepares them for later in the season

We lost to a good team. Happens.

On to the next one

True but if the Leafs want to win the Cup, that’s 4 rounds of tough physical hockey.
One thing I got from the past two Cup Champs, both coaches said their team was prepared to play the 5th round.
Not crapping at the boys as no teams ever won 82 games. But Panthers is the top dog and there is a gap between them. Now I don’t think the score indicates they are 5-1 apart, as they are closer to that.

Can you imagine if McMann is out, WN is suspended, and nobody else returns from injury, what Saturday is going to look like? LOL

Do the Leafs ever embellish or hold sticks?

Referring to Rodriguez’s stick hold on Timmins. It just seems like such a dirty, conniving, rat bastard thing to do.

Playing for, coaching, and managing a southern US market in Bettman’s league is the NHL on easy mode. Refs and DoPS are easier on you so that the team has more of an advantage to win and bring more fans into the building and watching on TV. A coach can blatantly disrespect the refs on the bench and not only not receive a misconduct penalty or fine but actually get his way and have fewer called penalties against. And the GM can sign players for discounts thanks to the perceived tax advantage.

Exactly.

The idea of making a prediction of an outcome is ridiculous. The house always wins.

You said the the Leafa would win because Fla was playing poorly. You forgot to mention the Leafs were playing with house money.

Fla is the better team. They won the Cup last year. The Leafs may usurp that from then but they are stil the team that loses every year in the first round.

I love your posts. We need more positivity in this thread.

There was no drama by saying the Leafs would lose tonight. The odds were always in Fla favour. Too many variables in play.

Losing streak vs winning streak. Who is healthier. What goaltender is playing above or below their career avg to name a few..

Outside of that... have you watched the Leafs in a big game over the past 9 years?

In sports betting the market plays themselves, the house just takes a spread. Interesting insight though, that was going to be a tough game.
