Honestly, did anyone really expect anything different?
I get there's always that little bit of enthusiasm when a new post-season starts, but that likely ended two minutes in when Boston scored on their first shot. Everything after that was academic.
Samsonov was atrocious. The amount of times he gets beat from point shots is nothing short of house league caliber. Swayman was excellent. Not good enough from JT, Marner, Bertuzzi, the third line and the D.
I know this loss stings boys and girls, but I would like you all to take solice in these next few words.
One of two things is about to happen. The Leafs either get their act together, kick ass, and get to the conference final or possibly a cup...
OR
We fail miserably like we did tonight, and this experiment is finally destroyed. Burned in the fires of history, and a new team, with real change is resurrected through the ashes.
One of these is going to come true, so take solice in that when you're feeling angry or frustrated.
And also, this gif is just so Leafs right now I'll leave it for you as well.
That was brutal. Samsonov 2nd and 3rd goals were awful. You can't let those go in.
Powerplay was bad, probably has something to do with having Jarnkrok on it? Like what??? You have Domi, Bertuzzi and Robertson on the bench in favor of Jarnkrok???? Not to mention he just came back from injury.
Missing arguably our best playoff performer in Nylander obviously didn't help either.
Need a way better performance in Game 2. I'm going with Woll if I'm Keefe and hopefully Nylander is back so he doesn't do some galaxy brain nonsense with the PP again.
Offering something somewhat constructive, having someone on each defensive pairing incapable of moving the puck (Boosh, Benoit, Edmonsson) makes it incredibly easy for a forecheck to know who to apply pressure to.
These guys can’t pass nor skate the puck out, so by covering their partners, you are basically guaranteeing a turnover
This team reminds me of the mid 2000s CBJ, they had a regular season superstar and nothing else, came playoff time the first line was shutdown by the other team and they got no other lines to contribute anything.
