Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 4-3 in OT | Lead Series 3-1

Im hoping this is a case of the leafs playing down to the sens level, I don’t think they’ve been good enough.

The main issue for me is generating offense and this team seems worse at it than previous iterations.
I dunno about that last part, they've scored at least 3 goals every game so far, whereas with Keefe they only had more than 2 goals once in every playoffs game following that 4-1 comeback game against Tampa in 2023, and even before that often had 2 goals or less in elimination games.

Boggles the mind that they’ll fine a Nick
Cousins for being an asshat but won’t discipline an actual head shot where someone could have gotten hurt. The distance between Cousins actions and a player safety moment vs a guy actually getting bonked in the head. It’s like the guy running disciplinary action has brain damage or something.
The dops is just pure insanity... if this was fiction, it would be edited out under 'nobody's going to believe that'.

Before the series started they had a survey in the Playoff forum and I chose the Leafs to win in 5. Most chose 6 or 7 games.

I would prefer 4 but I suppose I anticipated Leafs being up 3-1 heading into game 5. So, they just need to take it. They provided the Sens a little bit of hope, now extinguish it.

Yeah but they’re also playing Ottawa, no comparison to Boston and Florida.

The Sens blew a 2-0 lead, a third period lead, went huge stretches without a shot, and gave up an OT double minor.

They did everything they could to throw that game away, and still won.

What a tough game for the Leafs to lose.

Great win if the highest paid player in the world cut put it in an open net.

They have LCBO in Alberta?

It was the ALCB when I lived there in the 80s. Same type of setup. They also had something called offsales where you could go into a bar and buy beer (or whatever) to go. They dismantled it all decades ago and now there's a liquor store on every other corner. Prices went up believe it or not. I assume the ALCB still exists in a regulatory role.

Just a quick reminder of how absolutely ecstatic Washington and Carolina are to be up 3-1 in their series today. Take a deep breath Leafs nation and Leafs players.
people are just worried we don’t see another choke

I think people would rather us go 2-1 —> 3-1 vs 3-0 —> 3-1. The second one just feels worse even though it’s not, also means the most recent and fresh game in peoples minds is the loss

People are going to be worried until the final buzzer sounds and the leafs have more goals than the other team. Hopefully that’s game 5, as I don’t see us winning a potential game 6 and also believe that it’s gonna bring more doubt on this team (internally and externally)

It’s time to be strong and just enjoy this. Finish it off in Game 5.

I am content with giving Sens a win at home after many years without playoffs. We took the road split and every home seeded team should be happy with that.
But now it's time to stop shitting the bed and put them away on Tuesday night...no more bullshit.

Not even shit the bed. Come out like a serious contender you want to be and win big. Don’t leave it to small margins, weird bounces and late game heroics. Win definitively and set up the second round with emphasis. Be killers!

Although a blowout would be great, more realistically I want a clinical 2-0 or 3-1 win where it feels like Ottawa is never really in the game, much like the Leafs looked in that game 7 against Montreal, or game 5 against Columbus. I want them to feel so deflated and hopeless, and for our fans to have a chance to sing Na Na Na Hey Goodbye to close out the game.

I’d like to see a Game 1 repeat. But that tends to not happen so much later in a series.

Frederik Andersen put up a .936 against Columbus, Jack Campbell .934 vs Montreal. You can argue about timely goals and all that, but goaltending wasn't why we lost those series.

After last game, Stolarz save % these playoffs dropped to .902
Stolarz allowed soft goals in both games at Ottawa.
