We need more of the "Gilmour feel" where its visually obvious our star players are ready to push the opponent out of the building, ready to go through a wall and the stats are there to back it up. On balance it feels like John Tavares and Matthews Knies have been our most impactful forwards on a game to game basis so we need more from Auston, Mitch and Willie. Doesn't matter if as PP merchants or 5 on 5.
Knies is bringing the Gilmore vibe, ditto for Bennie, but too few are putting it all on the line imo………

WHEREVER else you guys post, please take this and try to get the message out to every site, every post, every forum, every tweet everywhere......

It won't be given to you. You have to TAKE it..

(Even from a shytty Sens team)

This HAS to be a loud enuff message that it reaches the Leafs Dressing Room - or at least our best players - by Game 5..!!!

Yep, last night's 4 minute PP, I don't care who is on the ice or what you have to do, series win on the line. If you have to drive it in 1st and goal Philadelphia Eagles style, you do it.

Knies and Tavares are carrying our forwards, i don't care how many points Matthews, Marner and Nylander have. Knies and Tavares are putting in the effort every shift where the other 3 are simply just relying on their skill. Until those 3 pick it up and start playing playoff hockey, it might be a short playoffs.

Not going to argue this. Nylander has been pretty good as well. Marner pinched and we paid the price but people here are somehow pinning it on Nylander who got tripped up and the thrown down after. Matthews should have fell back on that play just incase.

We are going to need to be far better for FL.

Give your head a shake and take a walk in the sunshine my man.

-Leafs win 2 games at home, lose game 3 and win game 4 coming home up 3-1, you'd be walking on air this morning.
-Leafs-Sens split 2 games in Toornto, then Toronto wins 2 in Ottawa, see above.

Don't lose perspective, we're up 3-1 and deserve to be.
For sure. And I am enjoying watching this team play. It's mostly positive in this series no doubt.

I would be lying though if I said the past failures are not front and centre every night. Unfortunate. I don't dwell on it, at all, but it lurks lol

So Rielly on the OT powerplay instead of OEL who tied the game to get it to OT? Even the coaching staff has no killer instinct! What are these coaches doing? Serving dessert at a cafe to ensure everyone gets a piece of cake, whether deserved or not?

He’s our best offensive Dman. I’m struggling with this perspective.

Rielly cooled that OT PP right away.

I’d say that was more Nylander and Marner. They were holding onto the puck too long and slowing things down. Rielly can’t shoulder all this blame.

I disagree Rielly is a predictable worst version of marner bacc there mcmann should have been in not Rielly marners doing just fine at the top

What last night showed is anyone thinking that Tavares isn’t an important part of this team and needs to be re-signed……. this is a very different team without him.
still don't think he should get a big payday, no problem with a very team friendly deal in both dollars and term, if not see ya later...........

I think his play has been admirable, and it shows the difference between a hungry player who needs to prove something after 7 years of job security, vs our other big center who isn't always as hungry as you want him to be. Imagine if Matthews played with that kind of drive to the net and hunger all the time.

After a good nights rest, and cooling off on the reaction to yesterday here is how I look at it:

1. We outplayed them, not only in shots, but in HDSC once again. Locked down the 2nd and 3rd (2 shots through 2 periods!)

2. Stolarz had a weak game, and it cannot be understated just how he was bound to have some stinkers soon (11 straight wins, 3 straight in the playoffs)

3. Our PP was neutered with Rielly on it, and that was a misstep. Besides that, we had 3 grade A chances on the 4 minute PP, that just didn't go in.

We have the series and to ice it we need to get OUT Patches and maybe Jarnkrok (for Kampf) next games.

You award the hot-hand and the dman that got you to OT is OEL. You don't force a play if the player is cold that game. Rielly is no Orr. You realized OEL is no chicken dinner, right? OEL might be older, but he's won a Cup and has plenty of experience on the powerplay, and could slap the puck from the point.

Agree.. Knies has already reached what I thought might be his predicted peak from a couple years ago, and he does it with grit and jam. Tavares, for all his faults, puts in the effort night after night among the boards and in front of the net.

Matthew$, Marner and Nylander are never going to be power forwards like Knies, but you gotta bring another level of intensity and you gotta go to the net once in a while instead of doing yet another lap around the outside. Yeah you’re gonna pay a price but chicks dig scars and bruises in a winning cause are glorious.

Regardless, this has been a shaky series. Yes we're up 3-1, realistically we were outplayed game 2. Game 3 was a coin flip.

Game 1 wasn't even a traditional blowout. We just converted absurdly high ratio.

I say these things, not to dreg on the team or something. Just some caution.

Honestly, I'm not too impressed with Berube, I think Stollarz/Woll/Brad Treveling are doing a much better job than the coach.

Does Berube hockey mean less shots and possession? Not my cup of tea.
