Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 4-3 in OT | Lead Series 3-1

These guys say that they care in interviews and what not, but it’s games like last night that really makes you question if they actually care or not. The nonchalant play in such an important game is extremely frustrating. I understand it’s not a must win game but when great teams have the ability to end the series they step it up another notch, not go backwards.

It feels like they need to win in 5 or they shouldn’t even bother playing in round 2.

If they can't take this at home, round 2 likely won't happen. They have to come out swinging. If they limp into the second round, it won't last long.

Big 4 in the series after 4 games:

Marner: 7 points (tied for 3rd in the playoffs)
Nylander: 6 points (tied for 7th in the playoffs)
Matthews: 5 points (tied for 10th in the playoffs)
Tavares: 5 points (tied for 10th in the playoffs)

Marner/Matthews line 5v5:
Goals scored: 5
Goals against: 0

Tavares/Nylander line 5v5:
Goals scored: 3
Goals against: 1

Big boys came to play this series although would be nice to see Matthews step up even more.

3rd line is killing us though.

I like McMann, but that guy's offense has been non-existent for like six weeks now. I hope he can regain his scoring touch because they can use it.

Domi did have that OT winner, but he hasn't been great otherwise. Jankrok is kind of just there. Holmberg seems to be more effective when he's in the bottom six than when he's on the second line. Patches looks like... well, an old guy who hasn't played in weeks.

I'm assuming Robertson will draw back in.

This was a game they could easily have won. Nothing to complain about. And you can't seriously expect to win every game.

A gentlemans sweep it'll be, in my opinion. Toronto wins it at home in game 5.

Might actually be better, so they don't get any rust waiting for the FKA/TB series to end.

Yeah I don’t think anyone expected Toronto to sweep this series, it’s just one game and luckily for us we’re going back home with a chance to close it off in front of our fan base. Hopefully the fans come out ready!!!

Holmberg has been great on all lines he's been on, I feel like he was such a vanilla player (not a bad thing) during the regular season and has found another gear right now, the 2nd line looks good with him on it, but I wouldn't be opposed to him being 3C/LW and trying to help spark that line.

Jarnkrok is on a line of people who are "just there", they are getting tough assignments and if that is all you notice from them, they are doing great.

Pacioretty has been absolutely terrible, Robertson should draw back in.

The third line in general has not been great, but they looked better with Robertson.

They missed a big opportunity last night. Could have had plenty of time off watching Tampa and Florida beat the shit out of each other, now it goes until at least Tuesday. Plus I assume more than a few of them are thinking about the last time they had a 3-1 series lead. Damn, they had so many chances too (including the 4min PP and multiple missed open nets).

I predicted Leafs in 5 so not surprised we’re here. On the positive side, the defence has been really good. Tanev, McCabe, Carlo, OEL, and Benoit so good in front of our net. Rielly has to stop with brain dead plays in clinching games…remember game 7 vs the Bruins.
Me too, Leafs in 5. Anyone whining is just a negative person, we're in great shape and could have easily won last night.

They are in the driver's seat but sorry not impressed with the core 4 other than in a few moments.

Credit for their lethal PP until last night's OT but let's face it, 5 on 5.

Marner breakaway goal in game 1 and assist to Matthews key goal in game 3.
Nylander cross ice passes to Rielly and OEL for goals in games 1 and 4.
Tavares for his goal scoring throughout the series.

Matthews assist on Marner's breakaway goal, scored a key goal into an wide open net while Ullmark was looking the other way. Wins the draw to Benoit for OT winner. Need more bud.

These are the guys who think they are worth 50% of your cap. Tavares, the least of the 4 has the most goals and fans want him to take a huge haircut.

Maybe the 4 min pp will come back to haunt the leafs
If they were playing a team with a Price, Brodeur or Hasek in goal and a D with a stud like Weber, Hedman, Pronger, Robinson, Potvin, Orr, Makar etc. there is a chance of a reverse sweep, but they are facing Ullmark and a sad Senators D let by Chabot and a young Sanderson. Sens are on life support IMO.

How much more do the top lines need to do?

This team is so bi polar, can’t wait until the divas are all gone and it becomes Knies’ team, he’s the heart and soul of this team, something that xan be built on……

100%, would love a top player who has a career high of less than 60 points.

Bring back the good ol' days.
