Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 4-3 in OT | Lead Series 3-1

Is anyone surprised?

This was the most anticipated loss of the season. Everyone and their brother knew they were gonna blow it. If there is any one thing these guys have proven over the years is they're chokers.

Now a 1-12 record in close-out games.

I still don't anticipate Ottawa coming back to win the series. But I wouldn't be shocked if they do. If there is any one team that could throw away a 3-0 lead it would be the Leafs.

Some things never change.

This team losing important games in the playoffs is one of them. I'm sure it's just a blip on the way to the inevitable victory. Cleaning up at home in game five should be a gimme.

Nobody should be surprised if they lose again though.

It’s not the end of the world. Stolarz had a bad game. We aren’t going 16-0.

It was inevitable that our goalie was going to have a game where he would like a couple back. I would rather him have his bad game up 3-0 in the series as opposed to being down 2-1

If before this series started if someone was to say to you by game five you would be up 3-1 going home would you take it

Of course you would.

It might be good in the long run to have some adversity before the Florida/ TB series.

Questions: Can Stolarz be an every day goalie? Because he’s rotated with Woll all year long. His max games played before this season in the NHL was 28 gp and this year he is already at 38. This feels like having a pitcher in baseball that has had a max year of 80 innings pitched and trying to go to 150. They might need to rotate Woll in for some games to keep Stolarz fresh.

I still expect the Leafs to win the series but it is a little disappointing that a ghetto team like Ottawa has been able to take the Leafs to O/T 3 of the 4 games so far. Ottawa has no 11-13 million dollar players and we have 4 of them.
What’s up with that?

Expecting game 7 at this point. These guys have a mental fortitude of 1 ply toilet paper at my work. This loss will crush them. They will win game 7 though.... I hope

Not to worried...felt that was actually the best game we played of the 4...just also the first game that their goalie clearly outplayed ours.

I also think it was the least important so far for TOR.

The first two were obviously crucial. You don't want to fall behind or lose home ice advantage. The third one ensured they would leave OTT with a series lead.

It would have been great to get the sweep, but this wasn't some big do-or-die game. They played bigger games earlier on and won.

I do think winning the next one is imperative. There really shouldn't be any freaking out unless they lose Game Five on home ice.

Fun game that we lost in the end and we will have to do it at home.

Stolarz is a good goalie but the odds were long on him winning a few more and setting the all time consecutive wins record for a goalie. All teams lose games in the playoffs and all goalies have off games.

Anyone have any video of the Zub cheapshotting Tavares and the Tkachuk butt end on Benoit in OT? I woke up figuring it would all over the news but it happened to a Leaf (wasn't done by a Leaf) so no one cares? Always so strange to me.

The Leafs were the better team for most of the game except for the first period. I guess it's law of averages, they've won 2 overtime games and were due to lose.
I bought this new broom for nothing....
Did anyone really think that the Leafs were going to sweep Ottawa? Personally I picked the Leafs to win in seven and I still think that I'm right

Oh no not at all. I said Sens in 7 because I'm broken

But it pays to be prepared.

Do you have dust?

Well yeah but I can't use the broom on it. It's a delicate ecosystem. Pretty sure there's at least one endangered species in there.

Think we've charged up Robertson enough that it's time for him to come in and score his comeback goal next game?

Anyone would be better than Patches was. Couldn't even make a pass last night.

The Leafs have a better record when being outshot then when getting more shots than their opponent.

So Ottawa's game plan of getting as few shots on net as possible worked last night. Now Toronto will counter that and so I expect game 5 to be the most boring, no-event playoff game in NHL history.

It won't be on the news.

It's scratch goal time for Robbie.

Only problem is him and Domi on a line is...I mean not even Pontus can save that.

But with home ice line matching....?

Who's more worried
Toronto
Washington
Winnipeg

Winnipeg is my pick

Agree. Toronto isn’t worried because Ottawa isn’t a great road team but it really depends how the home fans are in game 5, if the fans get nervous the vibes of the series could change, Toronto has been in control all series.

Not that I expect better from the refs, but having home ice and last change isn't a bad thing.

These guys say that they care in interviews and what not, but it’s games like last night that really makes you question if they actually care or not. The nonchalant play in such an important game is extremely frustrating. I understand it’s not a must win game but when great teams have the ability to end the series they step it up another notch, not go backwards.

It feels like they need to win in 5 or they shouldn’t even bother playing in round 2.

I predicted Leafs in 5 so not surprised we’re here. On the positive side, the defence has been really good. Tanev, McCabe, Carlo, OEL, and Benoit so good in front of our net. Rielly has to stop with brain dead plays in clinching games…remember game 7 vs the Bruins.
