Switch mcmann with Holmberg and you will see a different dynamic on both lines. Worse d on 2nd line but more offensive time and more space for nylander. Less struggle in d zone for 3rd line. Still no offence. But better overall.

I'd bring in Robertson. I'd also bring in reavo as they have been taking liberties against us.
Whats Reaves gonna do except get exposed? Lol, nobody on the Sens would fight him, they wouldn't even fight Marner. They know they are shit heels and play like it.

Marner has 7 points in 4 games. Not bad at all. Matthews has produced very little and looks like he is not 100%. Makes it difficult for the line to produce 5 on 5 with the big guy not able to give his best. Not an excuse. Just what it looks like. And all agree the third line is a train wreck. Pacioretti too slow. Domi doesn’t know how to play defence. And McMann lost out there. But with all that said they will still win the series.
Matty is only getting older and though people cite the example of Ovechkin sustaining his play, Ovechkin obviously has some insane made in a lab type genetics when it comes to health in many ways it seems and barely missed games.

I'm not sure if Matthews will ever fully recover from whatever is ailing him which seems related to wrist and/or back? I think we have to accept we got a really elite player who never reached the peak he could because of injuries. We've seen glimpses but not enough. I wish he would properly take half a season off and sort it out with the Leafs because I know this guy can be a lot better than he's been so far in his career. But ofc that won't happen. I imagine he'll keep playing through lingering injuries until it becomes too much at some point

I also don't get why this team is so adamant on trying to clear pucks along the boards. Ottawa keeps clogging up the boards waiting for the clear attempt.

Leafs could set up breakaway after breakaway faking a puck at the boards and going through the the middle.
Berube is a strong side out guy.. You have your reads:

1. Clean play to wing and then to center
2. Bypass or chip from the winger
3. Lob or glass
4. Once in a blue moon we will hit the weakside D tiptoeing through the middle

I am not saying I agree.. It is part of the ultra conservative package we run.

I am actually impressed at how many times the D have jumped up when in the O-zone. very little of that in reg season.

I thought overall, Willy had a good night. Two big assists. On the short handed goal, he probably should have gotten into the play a little faster, Marner should have made a better read, and we'd all like a save there for Stolarz.
Considering that when the puck left the zone he was on the ice with a Sens player over him, I might give him a pass. And there were three other Leafs closer to our end when Mitch misplayed it.

He looks tired most of the time. It's why people wonder.

Who knows what people are going through. Just wish him the best but from the outside it always looks like there's definitely issues with him. He is disinterested in his interviews and it comes off as pompous. But it might not be. Who knows.

He's an insanely talented player and it's a shame that he isn't playing up to his potential for whatever reason.

The more I think on it, the more I think it's a good thing we lost, overall. They didn't show up with the urgency they needed and by failing, it lets them know it wasn't good enough. If they fall short in game 5, then we have real issues.

For the love of god put Robertson back in, never should of been taken out. Second best shot on the team, works his butt off both ends of the ice and for some unknown reason has the shortest leash on the team. Patches and Holmberg has done nothing. Put McMann, Domi and Robertson back together on the 3rd line and leave it the hell alone. They have been one of the better 3rd lines in hockey when they play together. The 2nd line don’t need McMann the 3rd line does, Jarnkrok is fine on the 2nd line.

We have won 7 in a row going back to the end of the regular season. Some of you need to step away from the ledge lol. Good goalies have bad games every now and then. They will make the adjustments and they will win.

This loss will be good for them.

I knew that unless Toro to went 16-0 in the playoffs, people would be leaping off the bandwagon immediately after the first loss.

been this way since day one. never ever understood the issues surrounding this guy. a really talented player who works hard so what problems does the team have with him?

are the problems behind the scenes and in the dressing room or something? Because other than that, the guy plays hard and makes some insanely talented plays on the ice. At times the guy looks like Marner.

So what's the issue with him???

I thought we did enough to win but couldn't bury our opportunity's, we looked dangerous enough just a bad night for the PP to struggle and Stolarz to play his worst game in a couple of months

No need to panic, just get some rest and come out strong at home and take the opportunity's were given

Do that and get a decent performance out of Stolarz I feel pretty confident in our chances

If you read a lot of the threads here you'll see that the same posters who are always complaining about Nylander's lack of effort and the same ones praising anything Marner does. I've never understood the need.
Ah ok, thanks. Usually, that kind of behaviour would suggest that someone is pretty insecure, so I guess I’ll do better to just ignore them? :)

Otherwise, just send him to San Jose! We’ll take good care of Nylander, and maybe he’ll feel appreciated too :)

Brady told Ottawa fans he’s going to be coming back to Ottawa.

He should be a politician with that wordplay. He definitely has to go back for locker cleanout day.

Leafs did enough to win that game.
Puck luck and bounces screwed them. JT missing from the PP in overtime caused a bit of disjointed play from the group.
Stolie had a bad game for him. He is 11-0-1. Pretty good. I would still give the brick Woll a look as Stolie has let in some softies......imo due to lack of work/action. Must be hard to stay warm and alert with a couple of shots getting thru a period.
He let in a few floaters last 2 games. Maybe just needs a rest?

Leafs are not losing this series. My gut said Leafs in 6, it still feels and felt like that before today's game.
Hope I am wrong and they close it Wednesday.....NZ time😅

Hm. Matthews have 2 less assists than Marner and the same number of goals, but 3 of those assists are primary. All of Nylanders 5 assists have been primary as well. Marners got 2 primary assists, and he was gifted one tonight. So I dunno. That’s a good amount of points, but I’d shouldn’t be said that he’s been way better than anyone else of the core, or the likes of Kempe, Kaprizov, MacKinnon and others that are up there in points, or?
