Can't fault one player; there were a bunch of issues.

Matthews' left hand/wrist/elbow, whatever it is, looks at best to be 70%. There really is not much venom in his shots these days.

Nylander had one of the most hot/cold games I've seen. Good back check one shift, blown coverage the next. Great pass on the OEL goal, though

He would have few good shifts, wow everyone and only to dissapear

I don't think I have ever seen Michael play full 60 mins of hockey. I have watched him many times

Hopefully the time off lets Matthews and Marner sort themselves out - kind of tired seeing how much time theyre spending not being impacts at ES right now.

If you can’t score on a 4 minute Pp in OT, you don’t deserve to win. Why is Rielly on the PP instead of OEL who will actually shot? Rielly was terrible in OT. He was so slow, as were our big 3.

If we somehow don’t win this series, Matthews will be seen as the ultimate choker. How many times has he had a chance to score in a clinching game in the past. Nylander can join him. Sorry Marner but you couldn’t make a play on that PP? I really think Tavares could have made a difference. Stolarz did not look good all night.

Having said this, I believe we will win on Tuesday. You don’t want too much time off anyways. Do it in front of our fans. However, if we lose that game, the noose will get really tight and all bets are off.

Patches needs to go. He had nothing, exactly what his final 20 or so games had, some checks but no real plays.

McMann showed up, imagine if Patches did too.

maybe rotate patches and robbie every game? patches seems too old to bring it every game. He seemed more fatigued this game than last game which he was playing after several months off. Maybe that says rust isn't a factor for him but fatigue is

Matthews again, I hate to say it, doesn't step up in closing games. He needs to have a game where he just dominates. For his own sake

He simply isn't capable of it. I have completely given up on this, many years ago. You saw it at the 4 Nations as well. Several grade A chances to win the game in OT and simply couldn't do it. He can never do it. Never has, never will. Forever a choke artist.
