K.. some positives...
26-0-1 is still insane.
Yall knew a 26-0 was gon' be broken by a bottom dweller - its always the way for every team.
This was the Sharks Stanley Cup, according to Zetterlund post-game - so meh..
Practically a scheduled loss here following the matinee on a b2b and travel in 3 of 4 nights.

Also - Stollie stopped every goal he was actually IN THE NET for... lolllll... Him and Woll, after the last 2 games, clearly need some coaching to stop chasing pucks wide. Stay in your dayum cage and you have a shutout tonite.. ah well..

The 2nd 5 game winning streak of the year comes to a halt and we still got a point despite alllllllll that. So meh.. moving on!

Negative? It's still the compete level of the Captain for me. Not good enough in the hard moments. That OT effort from him, was..... typical.

Outside a couple annoying breakdowns the Leafs came on pretty strong, just fish eyed tonight, nothing hit the net.

Willy was on a tear but musta been double digits shooting wide.

SJ got pretty lucky whatever

You're right. When was the last time we blew someone out? For example, a team like Tampa blows people out regularly, hence thier formidable goal differential. We won 5 in a row but most of them by one goal. I guess it's good prep for the playoffs winning all these close games.
the last time we did it was probably that habs game where we came back and scored 7 straight, but we also went down 3-0 in the first

the last time we dominated and put a game away early was what the detroit redwings (2-0 first, 4-0 second) or the LA Kings in the FOURTH game of the season (3-0 first, 5-0 second)

we typically have a 1-2 goal lead and sometimes get the empty netter. Nothing wrong with it, but sometimes you are gonna need to outplay the opponent and capatalize

hell we haven't outshot a team by more than 3 shots since almost a month and a half ago against the wild

My mind harkens back to Ken Wregget standing straight as a board and hugging that post. Lol.

This game can be summarized very easily:

-no 5 on 5 goals
-two very poor goals on Stolarz, cost us the game
-too much Benoit and Myers, we need Tanev and an addition
-San Jose wanted it more, skated hard, Georgiev very good
-couldn't score on a 4 on 3 because we were too stagnant
-poor effort from periphery players like Jarnkrok, Dewar, Domi, Kampf
-terrible shootout

And there goes the winning streak and the unblemished record after leading after 2 periods.

Knies really should be the go to net-front guy on the PP. But this team refuses to scale back Tavares’ role on the team. Same was true last year with Bertuzzi. We have better net front guys and yet John ends up there somehow.
Because they need JT to get them point totals up to make the inevitable re-signing look more acceptable.

I finally broke free from picking him on Tim's Picks. Unfortunately, I picked Marner in his place tonight. M&M really suck right now, we've won 5 straight despite them.
They've stopped giving Draisaitl and other top players as options in slot 1 but Matthews remains..

Chief wouldn’t even give him a sniff. Oh well. I’m sure Hakanpaa will come back any game now…
Berube made up his mind about him before camp IMO and sadly Lilly didn't help with the bad camp he had.
The depth guys are struggling now aside from Myers. Unless Rielly gets into form, this D core will go where Tanev and McCabe take it.
Hakanpaa situation their were red flags all over, but the team clearly didn't learn their lesson from a similar situation before.

Good news is we’re tied with Florida with a game in hand still. Bad news is our schedule doesn’t get any easier or less congested. And with Tkachuk LTIR’d until the playoffs the there’s still the chance that Florida adds even more at the TDL.
