This is how they play when they care and they have even average goaltending. The problem is that they have spent too many games recently not caring. Maybe removing the issue in net will stabilize things.

Excellent 2nd period.

Why can't we play like this more often? Not even every game, just like 2 out of 3 or something. And I don't mean 100% structured. We're probably about 80% structured play tonight. And that's fine. It makes the world of difference

coke zero > pepsi zero
Oddly enough, I am a Coke guy in general, but when we talk Zero, I really dislike the Coke.

When I say I am a Coke guy, the 10 I drink a year would be Coke. Switched to Zero to get some other chemicals in my system, and it's Pepsi all the way.

more than structure they're also playing with intensity. haven't seen the leafs forecheck like this in a regular season game in a while.

Big kill near the end of the 2nd there, but things starting to get a little dicey in those last 5 minutes.

Will need a good effort in the first 5 of the 3rd to not give the Kings any hope. Keeping them off the board would be good, but potting an insurance marker would be best.

Outside Robertson, I think everyone else is playing really well tonight.

Tons more structure. This is night and day from game we have watched over the past few weeks. They were close vs CAR, but not fully on their game. This is way tighter. Very few turnovers makes your life a helluva lot easier. Make the opponent earn their chances.

It must be extremely difficult to find the right mindset when your goalie can implode on a consistent level, night after night. They're probably thinking ( and knowing) they have to score 6 goals to have a chance. That said, I'm not excusing all the poor play, but goaltending is such an obvious factor.

I think four on the panel is too many.

I'd drop Kypper or Elliot. Maybe Elliot, see enough of him on the national game nights. Plus Kypper is clearly an insider now lol

Third game in a row we haven't given up much, very structured and actually look like we have an identity. We lost those last two but played much better than some of the one's we won.
They do say you lose some you should win before you go on a run. Weird circumstances with the goaltending vs CLB though. It was hard to get a read on the game as there were still a lot of unforced errors. There are almost none tonight.

I better not say what I was going to say in reference to “coke”
