That's never the problem. It's how he plays when he can't go for a spin because the space is gone. He's done better this year but he's still not in the tier needed.

Hell of a talent of course. Just never going to win a Cup with his cap hit and playoff pedigree

when he plays in simple straight lines to and around the net he looks all-world, the problem is when he decides he’s doing mostly high risk east-west stuff by the blueline instead for stretches of games.

If 6’4 Matthews can get lost in the offensive zone to get open for cross seam feeds I don’t see why Marner can’t, he doesn’t need to fight for space he just to disappear and reappear at the right time.

Yeah I’ve been watching Canada at the world jrs for the intermissions.
Not going great. They are only up 1-0 on a team that could get relegated and they have had a couple players go down with injuries

It depends on whether Tavares keeps his skating at this level.
Last year they played together and Tavares couldn’t ever get the puck to mitch or convert his passes.
But so far this year Tavares has been quicker than he has in years.
