The issue is this is the move. Dubas feels that Giordano is what he should be using his limited cap space on.

Florida went out and got a better d-man (Chiarot) and arguably the best forward on the market (Giroux). Boston went out and got the best d-man available and signed him long term (Lindholm). Tampa went out and got a great middle 6 forward thats signed to an insanely good contract (Hagel).

Gio has before this season put up paces of (38, 38, 39, 42). These seasons were sandwiched around the 74 point, Norris winning season. This season he is pacing for 34 points on an expansion team. He seems fairly consistent. He has played at roughly this level for 5 of his last 6 seasons. He's a two way defenseman. Definitely a top-4 guy.
