It seems like Matthews has sucked the heart, spirit and fight right out of this team since he stumbled back from Germany. While he was gone they hit, they scratched, clawed and fought. Really enjoyed them but now they are back to being the soft gooey team they were before.

can we afford better support players with the structure of the top 4?

Yes we can they just need to go pay the price

Cannot argue. I am going to hold out hope, because if Domi cannot be effective we are in trouble.
I was saying this while he was out. How we didn't miss him in any way. He was a nice plug in player last year plugging gaps in Tre's first season on a one year contract. I'm not sure I would want him in the lineup come playoff time not Tre's greatest decision this summer. I'd ship him if I could personally.

RE: Point shots

Reilly - muffin
OEL - not really a hard shot, but a bit deceptive
Benoit - a bit better than a muffin
McCabe - can actually crank it a bit
Myers - howitzer into the 300 section
Timmons - can crank it somewhat
Hakinpaa - ??
Tanev - muffinesque

So basically, the guys who can pass the puck can’t shoot, and the guys who can shoot, can’t really be trusted to pass the puck around. Simply put — we just don’t have a threat from the point. It just seems like you really need a point shot threat to have successful PP.

I love these games where they largely carry the balance of play against a weaker opponent but fail to score and then just have brainfarts where everyone on the ice does exactly the wrong thing at the same time to give up easy goals.

It doesn’t need to be a howitzer it just needs to be an average adult male shot power-wise, the high end skill required is getting it on net without telegraphing it every time. The Franson half-clapper is the single best point shot we’ve had in 20 years, it got on net almost every time and it did a perfect rebound off the pad and into the slot almost every time with 0 wind up or telegraphing.

Whoever can consistently fire that shot can score 0 goals all year as far as I care, we have 5 elite netfront guys on the ice 40+ minutes a night we just need someone that can feed them bounces.

This team is straight up weird

When were good defensively our offense disappears and when we're going offensively we can't defend for ****

I'd like to say I'm shocked by the loss but I'd be lying, we've been poor for the last couple of weeks and it caught up to us

You can't play like this and expect the results to be stellar, we got what we deserved

Hopefully this helps the boys to pull there heads from there asses
