You guys ever think about the fact that by the time your defense is fully matured you may have a limited window with Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds etc up front?
Hi WTF man.

I don't see a limited window. Hextall has retooled on the fly and has some interesting forward prospects in the system. He's cleaned up poor cap spending. Hextall will soon be able to augment the forward talent with money coming off the books in future seasons. The future is bright, IMO.

Personally....yes and no.

Voracek is signed for 8 years
Giroux is signed for 6 years
Couts is signed for 6 years
Schenn is a RFA...tbd

Simmonds is the wildcard. And if you were to look thru my history, I have said that I would explore POSSIBLY moving him for an overpayment to a win now contender, for assets that help us more in 2-3 years. So short term win for acquiring team, long term win for Philly.

Summer on 2017 was always the expected "turning of the page" for Philly. By then, all of Provy, Ghost, Morin, Sanheim, Konecny, Lindblom....and possibly Aube-Kubel and Leier are NHLers. Tons of youth though....but also lots of skill.

I would not be surprised if next summer Philly makes 1/2 bigger moves to push to a contender status instead of playoff tweener to try and have a good mix of vets and youth.

But it's also why Philly drafted heavy on forwards....adding Rubstov, Laberge, and Wilson as prospects can help start the following wave of forwards to replace Simmonds or Schenn....maybe Couts too.

But finding a high end forward prospect is a much harder task. But what we do know, is that if you have good young Dman, teams will offer forwards all day long for them. So in time, Philly might trade a D for a forward. No rush yet though. Let the young D develop and increase their value even more.

Maybe the same reason someone traded the Flyers 2 picks for a 40 year old Timonen had missed the whole season with blood clots.

At the deadline, Dmen are the most sought after player. Toronto is obviously not a fit, but if Streit is not injured, and Philly is willing to move him, there will be teams looking to trade for him.

Hell, Washington traded a 3rd for Mike Weber....Streit would get more than you think.

This is not the trade deadline. . And komarov is not a 3rd

This is a textbook lack of reading comprehension. You quoted a guy who previously said Toronto would not do this, as everyone reasonable has done.

His point was that trading Streit for a limited return now makes no sense from a Flyers' POV. It makes more sense for them to ride it out.

No...it's worse than that.

No kidding. THIS is what I replied to:

A lot. . . 38 year old streit?!?!?

Worth very little, can't see why anyone would trade for him

Hence why I said that someone trade a 2nd and another pick for a 39 year old Timonen. To show that age means very little. And that Kimmo had not played 1 game yet returned a good return. And an awful player in Weber even got a 3rd.

But yeah, reading is hard for some people.
